That's me in the title. I so want to cook from scratch but never know where to start,(well unless you count soup or stovies:o) I've never heard of half the ingredients in some recipies and just end up giving up and having something that is pre packed and just needing a blast of heat. I bought this book from amazon How to feed your whole family a healthy, balanced diet with very little money and hardly any time, even if you have a tiny kitchen, only 3 saucepans(1 with an ill fitting lid) and no fancy gadgets- unless you count the garlic crusher (phew thats some title!) It has great easy recipies and even has a 5 week meal plan and shopping list. The price guide is from shopping done in Tesco, Aldi, Lidl etc and averages about £25. just thought I'd let you all know in case there are others out there like me who need to start off with very basic simple recipies.

Hi funfairprincess,
A lot of Old Stylers have enjoyed this book so I've added your post to the thread discussing it to keep the replies together.

Just noticed she has got a new one coming out later this year "Eating and Cheating".
I like her books but not her recipes, if you see what I mean. They haven't turned out well for me, don't know why.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
