Good link and info but I think she made an error on the fish pricing:
Cod (2 x large fillets, approx 21b/ 1kg) £4.13
Don't know anywhere you can buy Cod fillets for £4 per kg! Even Coley or Pollack is more than double that. I am going to the fishmonger this afternoon so will have a look but from memory cod and haddock fillets are around £10 to £12 per kg."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

You could always buy frozen fish?
Lidl has 1kg Pollack for £2.99, and Sainsburys basics frozen pollack was under £1.50 for around 500g.
Thanks thriftlady for the link - very interesting, pity we are not having turkey this year.

I have to say (and I realise that I haven't seen this book) that there is such a wealth of information on this forum with contributions from soooo many experts in this field, that I can't imagine it would be money well spent!
There are soooooo many pages of info here as well.but some people just like having books -me for one:D . I read cookbooks in bed and while I'm watching telly (multitasking you know) and you can't do that with a computer.

I ordered this book but after looking at it I sent it back as I really didn't like it at all!
My main resons for disliking it:
- I found it really patronising.
- there was nothing new in it that I hadn't already learnt here
- I expected more menu plans with shopping lists. In fact most of the book consists of the author's opinion on how you should eat.
Having said that I have reached a stage where I am more than fed up of the nutrition police telling us what we should and shouldn't eat so that really put me off.
I would say however that this is a good book for those with no knowledge of menu planning and no concpet of basic nutrition."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

Just to echo the last poster i also found this book disappointing. To be fair i perhaps am not the target audience (i cook for one mostly) but having said that i bought it because i am used to cookbooks that are aimed at families, but this book seemed to me somehow."The Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed" - Ghandi0

I bought it for my sister last year, and she loves it! It's her favourite cookbook. She had Delia, but that got left behind when she moved out so she clearly didn't like it.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I brought this and although I haven't used it much, my children (DS 15 and DD 10) are great fans. The recipes are simple and straightforward enough for them to follow and it's giving them loads of confidence in the process. It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0

Thanks for that CompCaf (I rely on you to find me interesting newspapaer articles:A ). I must say I'm gobsmacked to see she has only made £1750 out of the book. I'm finding this particular book has turned out to be one I never use, maybe I'll have another look at it.0
