My sister is going to get that book for Christmas :) She's always moaning about her lack of saucepans
Well, I've now got my book, and I'm impressed! I can't really read it too much, coz it's a present, though.

But it does look a really nice book, and the paper is lovely and thick and not thin and horrible like loads are. It's also got information bits so you can actually read it, and then it's full of recipes. It tells you how to prepare vegetables, what essentials to keep in your cupboards, and what to do when you can't be bothered to cook. It's even got a section on menu planning with sample menus! One recipe is called "slug and celery soup", which sounds intriguing.

How to Feed Your Whole Family a Healthy Balanced Diet, with Very Little Money and Hardly Any Time, Even If You Have a Tiny Kitchen, Only Three Saucepans ... - Unless You Count the Garlic Crusher...
"Less than forty years ago people had jobs and families to look after, but still managed to prepare and cook meals from scratch every day of the week - without the modern conveniences of supermarkets and fast food; or a fridge, food processor or microwave. But it is possible to feed your family a healthy, balanced diet (without depriving them of the things they like) even if you work full-time and don't have a lot of money. This book provides simple, wholesome and nutritious recipes for family meals; quick lunches, tasty puddings and cakes - and you don't have to spend hours slaving over a hot stove, or spend a fortune at the supermarket. There are menu plans, recipes, shortcuts and dozens of ideas for every meal, together with tried and tested tips to help you save your valuable time and money. "

  • This book arrived yesterday. Written in a very down to earth style, lots of good tips - alot more info than I thought, I got it mostly for the recipes but there's lots of useful tips. I consider myself a fairly good cook, and I still learnt a couple of things reading through it. The recipes are all very realistic and although some of the shortcuts would be seen as not totally healthy and a bit 'cheating' it is sometimes what you have to do in real life, and it's still better than just using ready meals.

I think for someone not too confident and wanting to start cooking from scratch it would be less daunting than other books out there.

And for others it's probably worth it for the recipes alone. You can see a list of them in the 'Search Inside' bit on Amazon or the online version.

I've just ordered this book, looks exactly what I'm looking for.
One question though..... do the receipes have photos of what it should look like once made??
I find it really difficult to follow a receipe if I dont know what the outcome should look like
    Thanks everyone

I'm afraid there are no photos Karen. But, they're all really straight forward recipes for ordinary, familiar dishes. Have confidence, follow the recipe and they'll turn out fine ;)

I have to say (and I realise that I haven't seen this book) that there is such a wealth of information on this forum with contributions from soooo many experts in this field, that I can't imagine it would be money well spent!

There are soooooo many pages of info here as well.
