Thurs 11 Feb 2016. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Good morning all.
Hard frost here , yard is lethal.
Off to a conference today and not back until Sunday. Have a budget but as I need nothing I really want to recycle it into groceries !!!
No doubt I will manage to find something to get my money out of my purse!
Drive carefully all.

Morning all :hello:
Enjoy the conference Maria, and welcome Mrs Save.
Frosty out there this morning, I'll have to scrape the car before I go anywhere. Doubly annoying is that my brain seems to think that it's Friday, and that is always a disappointment.
Anyway - here is my little list.
check banking and PAD
use my free time at school wisely
finish test marking
mark a set of books
work through my annoying jobs at work list (8 things on there)
get dd to cheerleading
get dh to do a small top up shop (then I can claim a nsd)
make time for exercise
make time for crochet (unicorn 2 almost finished)
make a new marking timetable that I can hopefully keep up with.
Think that will do for now - sure lots of things will crop up during the day - the key is for me not to procrastinate, and a list will help. Have a good day everyone :jNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

My list for today:

Heating on to a minimum, will use blanket if required
One thing from February list
Print passport form - didn't do this the other day
Quick tidy round
Talk to DH about which work we are going to do first
DH doing o/t tonight and tomorrow
Run for free exercise.
Think that's all, will check back later0 -
Morning all, thanks for starting Maria
CCL only two more days until half term! :T
I was hoping for a NSD today but I think I'll sort out our wedding insurance (only £20 from the wedding pot). We weren't going to bother but we heard yesterday that the restaurant we're having our reception at may be going on the market :eek: The owner is a friend who is on holiday at the minute so we have to wait until he's back next week to find out what is going on. Luckily we haven't parted with any money yet but it is a worry. I spent last night looking for alternative venues and found a lovely village hall where we could do the catering ourselves and have a band (no room at the restaurant) so all may not be lost and it could end up being cheaper... we'll just have to be patient and wait until next week...
NSD other than that and all meals from stores
Banking checked. Budget is looking manageable for the rest of the month. It has been a bit of a spendy week so far what with a garage bill and trip to the dentist. I'm going to set myself the challenge of being as spendthrift as possible for the next couple of weeks:money:
Surveys and FPL to do at lunchtime
Work on my PGCAP today
Free entertainment at work via the radio iPlayer
Tidy up at home when I get in tonight
I managed to K.O. one of my hub caps in spectacular fashion whilst attempting to park at work this morning (right in front of my colleague too
) - hoping I'll be able to source one from the local breakers yard at some point

Morning All :hello:
A minor frost here at the edge of the Cotswolds. I suspect it is harder once up on the top as they say.
Todays' list:
All meals from stores.
Check online banking and savings.
Have lunch before going to work at 1pm.
Another NSD. So far this month that will be 10.
My list is small but productive. Going to have breakfast now and keep warm.
This evening we (hubby & I) have another relate session!
Thankfully they are free to us!
Have a lovely day people.
Stay safe.

Money scares me.:eek:
Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o0 -
Morning all

Thanks for the start Maria
It is frosty here this morning as well.
I didn't post yesterday, as I had GD all day and was shattered by the evening, but did read everyone else's posts and managed a NSD :T
Bob, I hope you are ok. I am concerned that you won't be well enough to cope on your own next week
Princess, hope you get your wedding venue issue sorted out - not good if you have decided on something and booked it, sent invitations etc and then have to redo everything. Hope the owner can put your mind at rest!
List for today:
Washed hair with my favourite shampoo (something like 89p from Lidls for a huge bottle
) (done)
Feed hens (done)
Cheapie porridge breakfast, with (free) stewed fruit from freezer (done)
Dog walks x 2 (pup has recovered from his fright, but is now wary of other dogs
)
Make a loaf in the BM
HM meals from stores - will have to rummage in the freezer to see what I can find that will thaw out in time for dinner, due to meal planning failure
Load of washing that can hopefully be pegged outside
Finish book later for free entertainment, and read more of another (I already have the books...)
Go to sales unit to add a few more bits / tidy up
Take a bag of things for the CS when I go out
Walk all journeys as I don't have heavy things to carry today
Possibly get out in the garden and repot some big plants / small trees, depends on whether I have enough of the right type of compost
Any surveys, check FPL
And the big one, confession time here, I had an email yesterday from the online supermarket I use, with a 50% off voucher code for certain items. So I blithely ordered enough of these items to justify a delivery (minimum spend £40). Now that was a lot of items, as most were at 50% of the usual price, and were undeniably a good deal. However, although these things would eventually have been used, I don't need them - I only have two items on my list this week and can pick those up locally
They would just have been added to a stockpile which I am working to reduce. So I have cancelled the order :T I don't know what I was thinking of
Right, I had better get on - hope you all have a good day

Morning all.
Dawn - I hope your puppy meets some nice woofers and gets over his fear.
So the job! Thank you for all your good luck and well wishes! I'll start at the end of March (have to give 6 weeks notice which I handed in yesterday!) and it will be a £2k payrise which equates to just under £100 a month. However, I will have to pay for parking, which I don't now, and they said it's £60 - £70 a month. But this does still mean I will be £30ish up, although I suspect my petrol will also go up as it's in the centre of town which is slightly further and I'll have to deal with more traffic. I'm really excited as I think it will be a real challenge and develop my skills and confidence in ways my current job hasn't!
So on to today now that I can focus again! Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Make smoothies for breakfast
* Use free moisturiser sample
* Take lunch to work
* Use warm left over kettle water to de-ice car windscreen rather than de-icer
* Charge phone in work
* Check FPL
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Go to circuits
* Dinner from stores
* Wash hair and let dry naturally
* Wipe down shower after use (FYI - I do shower everyday and I do wipe it down everyday just forget to put this!:rotfl:)
* Do some sort of housework as per flylady thread
Think that's everything for now. Hope you all have a good day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0
