  • Good morning all, I too thought it was Friday! Very angry as my delivery didn't arrive yesterday, I had a text saying we attempted delivery and left a card.... Hell no you did not! I was in all afternoon so wrote a very stroppy letter of complaint. Why lie about attempting delivery, do they think we are stupid

    - school run done
    - entertain DD and DS2 for free
    - wash at 30 degrees
    - check banking
    - nursery run with DD
    - cleaning and ironing :(
    - school run and then trip to shops to stock up as cupboards empty, trying to do a big stock up once a month so I only need fresh items when I shop on a Saturday with my family
    - Homework with DS1
    - bed!!!

Have a good day all :T

  • Morning everyone!

    Congratulations Twiggy. Well done you!

Yesterday was a complete write-off due to illness, but I am feeling a bit better today so that's good news. I have a tendency to overdo it when I start to get better so I'm only going to potter around a bit today and not expect too much of myself.

    Listy:

:) Lightly tidy living room and kitchen
:) Connect more devices to new router (changed BB supplier saving nearly £20 a month!)
    :) Walk pre-school runs
:) Packed lunches for kids (I overslept this morning, must have turned my alarm off somehow, and then woke up to my DS1 and DS2 saying 'bye mum, off to school, don't worry we've made our own sandwiches'. Not sure if that's a parenting fail or a parenting win???)
:) All meals from stores (having our pancakes tonight as we weren't all together on Tuesday)
:) OH to eat free lunch (he's come back from a night shift with a bag of expenses-paid loot from Mr T)
    :) Take meds
:) Surveys - anyone know of any that come through a phone app? I already do Google Rewards
:) FPL (now that I've cleared my inbox I actually notice and action this email!)
    :) Check banks
:) Fiddle with me spreadsheet (ooh-er)
:) Shower with free hotel miniatures (decided that decanting them is going to polish off my will to live, so I'm going to take them into the shower individually instead).

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks Dawn. I'm a bit scared too. But I have got help till Sunday. And I feel much better today than I did yesterday. So 3 more whole days and I may feel a lot different. I'm in no pain. Just weak now. So that is all good. I'm trying to switch back to feeding the baby myself from her having to be bottle fed for 2 weeks. It's going ok but still not able to keep her going for a whole day myself yet. Today she went from first wake up feed to about an hour ago on just what I've managed and then we topped her up with a bottle. Hopefully I will do the same and then another bottle at bedtime. Slowly cut it back.

    How is pup now?

Twiggy - so pleased on your job.

Maria - so sad reading about the lambs. I really hope they will be ok.

Make the Change - it is unusual for you to have to make contact with your council about your neighbours intimidating you on the noise front.i had the same kind of response. It is where your safer neighbourhood team should step in. But unfortunately resources being what they are you will have to reach out to them rather than the other way around. It is definately worth making them aware of the situation in case it escalates.

:starmod: Change kitchen light bulb :A Done but the wattage isn't bright enough really, will do for now as its better then nothing!

When shopping for bulbs look on the packet at Lumens and Wattage. The Wattage is how much power it uses, the lower the better. The Lumenosity is how bright the bulb will be, the higher the better.

So if there are two lightbulbs on sale as below you'd get more brightness for you money from the second one.

The first one is rated 25W and 200LN.
The second one is rated 25W and 250LN.

    ;)

    Evening all,

    Thanks for the start Maria.

I had the chance to finish work early today so I came home to work on my geriatric car. This morning I decided to stay in bed longer than usual resulting in me nearly being late for work as I didn't notice the car windscreen was coated in ice. OH hurriedly defrosted it with table salt  so this afternoon I:

    * Washed salt off car by hand instead of going to the car wash.

    * Ordered new wipers from eBay. Much cheaper than Halfords.

    * Applied WD40 to all car locks and hinges as this morning they were frozen solid.

    * Put old shower curtain across the windscreen to prevent this saga recurring tomorrow morning.

    * Started investigating why the stereo no longer works in car.

    * Found spare bottle of de-icer in boot of car.

    Also:

    * OH planted some late bulbs into the planters in the front garden for a bit of colour. Cut-price in Aldi.

    * OH WD40'd the hut/shed padlock so we can get back in to it!

    * Do some maintenance on OH's laptop. Apparently it's "playing up". Need to seek and destroy the problem.

    * Awaiting new cheap, rubber, mobile phone case through the post. Currently using a clean fluffy bedsock as a case. Certainly wasn't going to spend £19.99 on a case in the Phone Shop.

    Hello February Frugalistas,
Yesterday was pretty much a write-off. Had a rotten headache all day. Attacked it with a heat pad, codiene, plenty of water, all the usual stuff, but it would not shift until I went through to the kitchen to start making bean curry for dinner. Suddenly I felt a lot better.....think it was chopping the onions then sizzling all the fresh ginger, chillies, garlic, spices, etc, so I think it was a sinus headache following the streaming cold I had last week. Waste of my car day, but at least I couldn't spend anything! So, onto today's meagre bits of money saving:
*Last of the laundry had all dried overnight on heated airer (like to maximise running it on cheap tariff but not always possible if a big load of towels, bedding, etc).
*Did the ironing....only those items which really needed it, unfortunately rather a lot this morning!
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch - sandwich using 2 rashers of turkey bacon leftover from breakfast. - a sort of low-fat BLT.
    *Did a survey.
    *Sowed some free seeds.
*Knitted more of my sock. Shaping done now, racing down the foot. Will soon be on my next project.
*Went on a fridge round-up mission & made a huge tuna & egg salad for my lunch......& was it Aldi 49p tuna? You can bet it was!
    *Did 1 Annoying Thing.
*Watered & tidied up in greenhouse. My veggie seeds should come plopping through the letterbox early next week & I can't wait to get started.
*Tidied up the strawberry runners I potted up in autumn. All seem to have rooted so have increased my strawberries by 12 plants for free.
*Brought mini electric propagator indoors to plug in & check it's still working. It was £15 in a sale ages ago, but it starts off all our chillies, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, cukes, etc.....all the stuff that's too tender & tropical to sow in an unheated greenhouse, but that feeds us well later in the year.
*All free leisure - audiobook while I'm cooking, library book by the fire later, & updated my blog.
*Nobble mr f later to see what he wants to cook next week & do meal plans & shopping list.
*Plan a nice dessert for Sat when I am apparently going to be cooked a nice Valentine's meal, to which I only have to 'bring pudding'. Found an old favourite I haven't cooked since I've been together with mr f, so will put chocolate & cream on the list & shopping list & make that. I have all the other ingredients.
OK, must get a wriggle on. Must also find out what cat is doing. He went off with the Avon lady earlier & hasn't been seen since!
    Love to all,
    f x

We've nearly made it - just one more get up now... :j
Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm only alive enough to sit on my backside for the moment.
