It will last you 2 years Pete so you can always go backtravelover0 -
If they never check it would be pointless asking the question.
Be a shame to get all the way there and get refused entry.
Are you seriously suggesting entry would be refused because a traveller stated they planned to stay in one hotel and then decided to book another ? :rotfl:
As ESTAs are valid for more than one trip - and there is no requirement to update before any subsequent trip within the validity of the ESTA (you can update flight/hotel but don't have to) then your logic is somewhat flawed.
Like many reasonably frequent travellers to the US my plans often change - and the hotel listed on my ESTA often isn't my destination -either because it belongs to a previous trip or I've found a better deal elsewhere. Never has this been queried at immigration or even commented upon.
OP if you put a possible hotel on your ESTA application that will be fine. If you have any concerns you can update the info on the ESTA before travel anyway.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

They're not 'chatty' or 'smiley', always very serious and matter of fact, but then they do a serious job.
My experience is the same They play it straight but aren't "difficult".
I have flown into JFK several times and found them no worse than anywhere else . I have had friendly chatty ones a few times entering the US but never ever had a "hard time" even when I've been returning to the US within a few months which could have been a possible flag.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Ditto.
If you really want to experience cretinous behaviour from border officials try Dubai.
They have arrogant aloofness down to a fine art.Particularly the women.0
