I bought a package of Smints yesterday. £1 for 8 grams of Smints. That's £125 a kilo. Are we bonkers in this country? We pay more for mints than the finest beef, and at the garage more for mineral water than petrol.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Does that make you third cousins?

Strictly speaking I don't think so as we are not blood relatives. It's just that our dynasties got together so related by marriage. Unlike the Royal family who did the same, the palace that we all shared was the workhouse.

I know most of my lines back to the 1700s, and his back a fair way, so our being closely blood related is extremely unlikely.

Looking through my coins, I have a Mrs. Tiggywinkle 50p that might be worth a fiver!

Even if it is, I shan't sell it. I'd rather keep it for the novelty value!

I've started looking at the reverse of £2 coins, now, and seen designs I didn't know were there!

Watch out for a twenty pence coin with no date! Ker-chink!

I think I saw something on the BBC news site the other day about the possibility of a few of the new £1 coins being around with a 2016 date - they were issued for machine operators, designers, etc. to use for updating/testing their coin handling mechanisms but apparently some might have made it "out into the wild".

Ooh thanks! I hadn't heard that!

Mind you, I haven't had one of the new ones yet .......I haven't been out since Wednesday!

I've only had three of the new non-veggie fivers so far.

I don't spend much cash TBH - most of my spending is done on my Tesco Clubcard debit card (so I get the points) with me reimbursing the account very soon after to ensure that it's still holding a bit over £3K to maximise the interest but not too much over else I lose the interest from the account I use to do the reimbursing ;)

I've got a total of around £35K to spend (well, £15K to spend, £20K to t/f to my stock/shares ISA) this month - hopefully I'll get away with transferring all the amounts into the Tesco a/c, then doing the spending on the Clubcard debit card, the points might pay for next Christmas ;)

    Every little helps :rotfl:

    It's on Pick, Mon-Fri, re-runs.

    It's a sort of sci-fi/fantasy hybrid.

It's currently at the start of series 2. I haven't watched it from the very beginning.....found it by accident.

It's full of weird creatures and 'abnormals' (sic), and in that respect is a bit like 'Heroes'...... humans with weird abilities and/or appearances, as well as strange animals.

It's not as good as the Stargate series, but the special effects are quite good.

If you start watching it, google it in Wiki to get the gist of what it's about
I have just realised that Pastures got the 10,000th post! :T

<<Grumble grumble>> Too many programmes we want to watch /record all on at the same time <<grumble grumble>>
Thanks anyway! I'm sure it will be on again if we're patient in any case :D

ETA We've been out every day but not had any of the new £1 coins yet.

Have you got a recorder with a twin receiver? Then you can record two at once, and if your TV has built-in Freeview, you can watch a third prog at the same time as the other two are recording!

Is Pick available on a catch-up thing? If so, you can always watch it on that.

Pastures, do you mean those lateral thinking exercises? I used to like those, too!

    Oh, by the way.......

    Postscript to the rant.....

I found the sheet music on another site and bought it. Took ten minutes.
Would have taken 5 minutes if my internet hadn't have kept going down.

    What a difference.

Yes. Bob is next to Mary. Peter is wearing blue. Mary isn't carrying daffodils. Who is nearest to the door?

    :)
