BBC4 - I never see/watch that. Not interested in furren history, so wouldn't watch that.
I hadn't heard of him either, and googled him too. I agree with Yorkie about him being easy on the eye now, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I'm using chrome. I can see it. I have the old style green version rather than the new blue and white one.
You can get to your display settings by going to "Quick links" (just below "User tools" at the top of the page) and selecting "Edit options".
I have my forum skin set to "New masthead, stretchy" and all three boxes ticked in "Visible post elements".
That's funny, because I'm on the green format, but my skin option is "new masthead, fixed width, recommended".
I wonder what the difference is.
And yes, I have all three "visible post elements ticked" too.(I just lurve spiders!)

How on earth can we have overlooked the very knowledgeable Dr Michael C Scott?? (Of course, the only reason I watch him is his knowledgeability ... nothing at all to do with his easiness on the eye. Absolutely not. Nothing at all, I tell you.))
This was funny, because when I saw his name mentioned on a trailer for a prog in Venice the other day, "Dr. Michael Scott, historian", I thought, "I've met him!". I've been on a few holidays with a specialist travel company, and which include music, art, history, and architecture lecturers/guides, one of which was in Venice, and he was one of the lecturer/guides.
However, it turned out they weren't the same person. The guy I had met was an art/architecture historian, Dr. Michael Douglas-Scott.
Bit of a coincidence, though.(I just lurve spiders!)

Congratulations, silvercar
I understand that there is crossover with survey results (which must belong in House Buying), but would very much like to see people there encouraged to use In My Home board more. I think it's a badly named board, really.
Having wandered back to house buying board recently, I discover that posters have been making up their own incorrect observations about building and buildings. On that board, if one influential poster says something enough it starts to pass as gospel with everyone repeating it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I appreciate that, maybe people should be directed for further help.
I find some of the 'in my home' regulars quite intimidating. I asked a few questions several years back on changing a headlight bulb off the site and had more/less the same response.
No, I can fit a lightbulb, I just need to know how to get to it to do it. This was sadly on a car where half the front of the car had to come off to get to the unit (ok it wasn't that bad, but was really awkward to get to), so because my time could be better spent on other things I got my father to do it💙💛 💔0 -

You get that on every board. Case in point would be on the house buying board last week when someone sensibly asked for advice before making an offer and was told by one poster that they didn't know enough about buying houses to buy this one! Plus the usual list of 'run a mile' replies from people who haven't worked out that all houses need maintenance and a lack of an obvious problem does not equal a lack of problems.
OP did good. Asked the right questions, took the advice to find a structural engineer who subsequently gave the house the all clear.
There are some regular question askers on the In My Home board who really have no idea at all and don't appear to want to [STRIKE]pay for[/STRIKE] seek any professional advice when they really need it. They do get tough love.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Instead of sitting here alternately refreshing this thread and a forum on another site that I frequent, I really should go and do some marking. Today's pile is 18 papers with 120 marks' worth of questions on each. That's 2160 marks to do before the next pile (only 1080 marks) comes in on Friday. All need marking, adding up and entering onto the master spreadsheet before 9am Monday morning. So far I have done 18*35=630 marks. There's a charity quiz night on at work on Friday evening, just to add to the marking deadline. Any NP who feel up to posting a few brief encouragements will be much appreciated.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
