I refused to let DS2 go to his choice of secondary school. He didn't forgive me for about 2 years. He has later admitted I was right.
I have to say my parenting is that I have lived all these years and one advantage is that all that experience probably means I can make the best decisions for my kids, I don't want to be their friend, I want what's best for them.SpekySquarehead wrote: »Good evening all!!! Their loss if you are put off from posting.
I always thought the system over there is odd, where people vote deals as cold just because the they don't like the deal or they consider it too much faff.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Forum Ambassadors are not moderators and don't read every post. It's just as well we don't have moderators on this site as if we did I'm sure they'd be just as idiotic.
The great thing for the owners of a site like this is that the customers provide almost all the output of the site. Moderation must be a curious thing: you need to balance the need for free or nearly free product with the need to stay on the right side of the law and not annoying other users.0 -

There might also be a requirement to post about moneysaving . That would shorten the NP threads quite a bit.0 -

B4lls to them. The trouble with any forum is there's always some farquar keen to 'report' people as they can't differentiate between scenarios.
I've had some warnings here for minor quips I've made .... and using foul language, e.g. such as farquar I just used.0 -
Should try our local Facebook pages, they want everyone saying the same (nice) thing...woe betide should you complain about a local service or not get caught up in the same hysteria as the others when someone new to the town drives near a school. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Small pang today..would have been my 26th wedding anniversary. Weird to think that had we still been together, we would have been together almost 30 years.

Ol' Nonna Generali used to live in the shadow of Kinder Scout and I spent large chunks of my childhood being dragged up various Penines so I am well aware of the natural beauty of the North of England.PasturesNew wrote: »B4lls to them. Yes, it's lovely oop there. Spent many days with Mrs Wheezy (no doggy back then) in and around the Peak District when we lived near Manchester. A walk around Derwent Reservoir and a pint in the pub in the bend near Snake Pass on the way back. Lovely, lovely. I miss that here in the South.
I have lovely (seriously) memories from the late 70s/early 80s of sitting in a slightly leaky, rusted Fiat 128 eating picnics as the rain fell over the Goyt Valley reservoir while listening to Radio 4 with Generala (my sister) and mom and pop Generali.
I also spent a lot of very happy days traipsing through the Penines which are notable, unlike the Blue Mountains, for being almost entirely clear of venomous spiders and snakes.Welcome SpekySquarehead and oldandhappy!
Yup, welcome to the Nice People Thread.
Ever been to Aus or Hertfordshire? Most people that post on this thread either live in one of those two places or somewhere else.0
