This is the turkey I chose:
    https://groceries.asda.com/product/turkey/asda-ready-to-roast-turkey-breast-joint/910002085869

Chose it based on size/cost .... didn't want to "skimp" as I do like turkey, so will enjoy eating it for several days afterwards.

It's easy to buy more/bigger, the smaller the portions, the smaller the choice.... so I figured "just choose it; just buy it, then it's done".

Thanks Pastures, I may suggest that to my parents as they only have a small lunch for them these days and don't want something as big as a turkey crown, let alone a whole turkey.

If he can't choose, then there's nothing enough between them.

In that case I'd compare the travel route/journey times and cost between home and Uni, to see if either is significantly more attractive and easier for the type of reasons/events/dates that might occur.

By train the time is equal, by car it isn't (one of his against reasons). The cost is definitely cheaper on the train to Lincoln.

Believe me, he is looking at everything, he is an extremely thorough researcher...he just is a pain when it comes to actually making a decision, he fears making the wrong one even if the reasons are strong to accept one over the other.

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

In the past, with just four of us - one of whom was a vegetarian and one who didn't eat a lot - I'd tried the M&S turkeys like this. Had that 2-3 years, but it was a pain in the butt doing the 30 miles round trip to get it.

That's why I was happy to consider one of these this year.

It's just a cut down breast, although reading the ingredients list they do seem to have shoved some other stuff in there, not just cut off the turkey breast and lobbed it into the tin foil.

I'm sure, from memory, the fresh versions of those only take 40 minutes to cook.

I only chose that one as I wanted to go to A5da. You could check what their favourite supermarket's got that's the same.

What you need to check is:

    - frozen (takes about 2 hours), or fresh (takes under an hour).
    - is it just a breast, like that one - or is it rolled/stuffed (just so the wrong sort's not grabbed). I specifically didn't want one that comes with stuffing.

Then just read the information label to see if it's "just a breast", or, like this one "Yeah, it's a breast, but there are 1-2 other things in there too"... e.g. the ingredients list on my link mentions sugar and some long words.

    :)

In short - posh/quality shops will also sell these. They are nice. You need barely any fridge room for them and barely any oven room .... they are not "an inferior product" simply for not being a whole turkey or a whole crown.

Would you drive him there with all his gear the first time he goes? After that, would it be public transport?

I just need a pint of milk to whip up a Yorkshire with - using a little bit of that for the roux for the gratin (or, in my world, for the sauce for the cauli cheese).
Don't say it, Pyxis, don't say it.......................
    :D

By the way, Sainsbury's do some plain white plates etc, and glasses that are very reasonable.

This is my dilemma: the last time I bought a turkey, it was a woodland free range.
    I know, I know.
It cost an arm and a leg, but when I tasted it, I couldn't believe how wonderful it was. The funny thing was that I found the leg was much nicer than the breast, instead of the other way round. Presumably all that running about unfettered that it had done. It was slightly gamey, but not much, just enough to give it a wonderful flavour.
I'd never tasted a bird as nice before.

So, now that I'm not going away this year, I wondered how I could reproduce that without having to buy a whole turkey.

My organic supplier does whole turkeys, in different sizes, and turkey crowns. You'd think that if they do turkey crowns, they might also do turkey legs.
    But no.
And even a small turkey would be much too large.

What do they do with the woodland free-range legs that they cut off in order to sell the crowns?
    I want one!
    But I can't get one!

The alternative is no turkey, but get something else.,

It's just that I'd love to experience the glorious taste of that turkey leg again.

    So upset!

I came home early and found Alexa in a threesome with the toaster and the kettle.
