I never buy Christmas food before Christmas Eve on the grounds that I will eat it beforehand. Call it moneysaving if you want PN!

Did you enjoy Rogue One Sue, or is that what's not worth talking about?!

It was quite a decent film to be honest, youngest certainly enjoyed it but then he is a Star Wars fan, I'm more of a Trekkie.

The weirdest part was before the film, an advert for Lincoln university came on, never ever seen a university being advertised in our local cinema...Joe is getting paranoid that the uni gods are trying to sway his decision as he keeps seeing positive Lincoln and negative York related things everywhere now:rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Me too. Pointless buying it more than a week before as it'll just get scoffed.
I bought a Prosecco/chocs combo as a thank-you for someone, and I'm even eyeing that up and down, and I don't even like chocs!

Sue, I would say the best course for him has got to be the deciding factor.

That's pretty much what he is doing at the moment. Lincoln has always been the perfect fit with the exact course content he was looking and a great location.

York on the other hand was off and on the list several times as the course wasn't a perfect fit but pretty close, however the uni and especially the part of the campus he would be based on is a fair way out of the city and would require public transport for the train station or cinema. The only reason it is still in the running is the contact he has had from them and the fact that it may be the better one to go to for reputation.

I've got a feeling he has almost made his mind up though, pretty much looks like he is going for perfect fit rather than the not so perfect despite the reputation.

He's scared though, really scared. He doesn't like change or new surroundings and just the thought of uni now is making him very anxious..made him productive though, going great guns on his new map.

York will have a relatively high proportion of students from affluent backgrounds. It does have a bit of a reputation as a Hooray Henry sort of place. It may make it harder to fit in than Lincoln.

That's the trouble. I've already identified that I'm one of those people who has to EAT food I OWN, whether I want it or not.

Why is it that I can go 6 months without a crisp ... buy a 6 pack and they're gone within 2-3 days?? That's why, in the main, I try to restrict what comes into the house; I do that by being harsh with myself while shopping - questioning everything I'm buying and why. I often swap things, or put something back.

Not today though .... I am now the proud owner of 12 packs of crisps. Oh I didn't WANT 12. No. I wanted 6. But when you can only buy that brand/flavour in one shop and when that shop sells 6 for £1.45 or "2 (six packs) for £2" ... it seems mad not to :)

I have also chosen and bought my turkey. Nailed it. It's a little frozen number, an 800 grams breast joint. It cooks from frozen, but I intend to defrost it on 23rd and cook it on the 24th in the SC. It'll then go in the fridge. I'll cut a chunk off, nuke it, then shove it in the mini oven to "brown a bit" on the day.

I've also changed my mind. I wasn't going to have swede mash, but then I changed my mind and bought a swede. I am dropping broccoli from the menu. That then leaves cauliflower, which, as there's no broccoli, I think I'll make into a cauliflower gratin.

Menu was: steamed broccoli, steamed cauli
Menu now is: mashed swede, cauliflower gratin.

Look at me pushing that boat out :)

I think I'm almost done really.

Turkey, spuds, parsnips, carrots, peas, cauli, stuffing, pigs without blankets, gravy .... all currently in my possession. I just need a pint of milk to whip up a Yorkshire with - using a little bit of that for the roux for the gratin (or, in my world, for the sauce for the cauli cheese).

    Ahead of the game!

Got crackers, crisps and chocolate. Just got to think which nuts to choose (can't have them all you see).... if I bought "all the nuts I'd like" I'd have way too many... so I can only choose 1-2 max.

Drinkies: just bought a tray (24) of Pepsi, a litre of pineapple/coconut fruit juice and a bottle of "new line" Robinsons squash I spotted called Soured Lemons (or something).

If the world shut its doors now and said "you've got to work with what you've got now" I'd be OK.

I'd like, but they aren't essential: A plain white dinner bowl to eat from, maybe a little table cloth/similar, maybe a glass to drink from (I use mugs and plastic beakers usually). I've got a Santa hat and £1 crackers.

    I'm just about there!

Oh - I'd like some crab pate, a loaf of bread and a particular pizza from A5da for Xmas Eve.; but I've still 9 days to get those. If I don't get them the world won't end.

You're way ahead of me Pastures!

I thought to myself "maybe PN can get one of those mixed nut selections and have a bit of everything", went off to google, and this was the first result. They must be having a laugh...

If he can't choose, then there's nothing enough between them.

In that case I'd compare the travel route/journey times and cost between home and Uni, to see if either is significantly more attractive and easier for the type of reasons/events/dates that might occur.

It's "my" first christmas... and I know I've a tendency to not make decisions and then "lose out/miss out" as I sat all undecided... and I was determined to not make it a garage turkey sandwich.

As a rule, I don't like "mixed" unless there's an especially attractive financial edge to it. What you get is a few of what you like and lots you don't like.

If I could buy all the nuts I could possibly want it'd be:

    - a packet of salted peanuts
    - a packet of chilli peanuts
    - a packet of honey roasted nuts
    - a packet of dry roasted nuts
    - a packet of shelled walnuts
    - a small packet of walnuts in shells
    - a large bag of monkey nuts.

    :)

Couldn't give a monkey's chuff for any other sorts :)
