I like to take a good packed lunch and everything on a trip "in case". Cigs, sandwiches, crisps, sweeties, cans of drink. If I'm sitting with the engine off with nothing to do then I do want to have something to eat/drink etc.

If we completely ignore my fear of the engine overheating if I sit still in traffic .... I don't mind being held up a little - it's nice to look out of the window sometimes as you can't do that when you're driving.

Turn the heater on full when the gauge starts to rocket, which is really useful if you want to play car sauna in the summer.

Cigarettes and an open can of coke are in the cupholders, with a spare pack and varying lighters in the slot under the console.

I've usually got a 6 pack of coke in the passenger footwell to open as/when needed, too.

My friend's sister married a Catholic Northern irish man, whose middle name was Mary. It could get worse PN!

Was his first name Jesus and his last name Joseph?

Gen; lovely regatta piccie. Not jealous at all.

Maggie, not envying your early morning either.

My car has a camera and allegedly parallel parks itself. Allsorts of techie bits to proveide me with more information than I can process.

I regularly turned up to give blood from my student days until my 30's. At times I failed the screening by being too light/anaemic so my donating record was not great. I turned up for the final time in my early 40's to be told that as I had had a transfusion during surgery I would not be eligible to give again. That was how I learnt about exclusions. Pre op I had said to the Jr doc consenting me that if it ended badly I wanted to donate my organs. She told me mine would be no good, we had a bit of a negotiation and she agreed my corneas were OK to donate. They wont take any old rubbish it seems.

One of the other guests this weekend rejoices in the middle name St John . He is South African and it is pronounced St John, not Sinjin as it would be here.

Oh the early morning was MAGIC! We neither of us HAD to get up to see the ISS, the shooting stars were a bonus. :j And to hear the owls too - we'd never notice them in August as we'd just assume it was drunk tourists on the beach or campsites! ;) I did get a nice snooze later on while OH went to Pwllheli to get graphite powder for caravan locks and door bits - been sticky for a while, and failed completely this afternoon. He'd gone back to bed post ISS but I was too awake then to manage it then. <roll eyes smiley> The joys of retirement! ;)

I'm not allowed to donate cos of the ME too. And no organ donation. I suspect not even corneas, though will try and check that out - thanks for the hint on that Spirit. :)

Don't know if everyone had it, but we had a stunning sunset tonight. Beautiful shades of pale pink, fuschia and flecks of lavender with royal blue.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

We had lovely one too, but I lacked the energy to take photos. :(

We're toying with staying on a bit if I can cancel dentist and we can cancel fridge-freezer bloke. I only just found out when Easter is this year! :o

What is annoying about my name, being odd .... is that it's pronounced in a particular way. Apart from anything else, everybody's name is pronounced the way THEY say it, whether that's the "usual" way, or their own.

Well, my way IS the usual way to say my name ... it's not like Mrs Hyacinth Bucket and her "Mrs Boo-Kay".

So, it's annoying when I say my name and somebody doesn't catch it - and I repeat it slowly that they then say "OH ... you mean ......" NO! No, I don't mean my name is something else. My name is exactly what I just told you ...... and you're not being "helpful" by telling me what my name is as if you've helped me as I've been getting it wrong forever!

It is, how I say it.

Now, I don't care how people say it - but don't go giving me that "OH, you mean ......" because that is SERIOUSLY patronising :)

You have a lovely name PN

Just back from watching DDs 1&2 perform in Histeria - a musical history of the UK from Stonehenge to Cool Britannia in 1h 45 mins. Once I get the DVD no doubt I will youtube it and post a link although you would have to be an extremely nice person to watch other people's kids am dram......
    I think....
