I tried to give blood but failed. The !!!!! test wasn't clear that I had enough iron, so they had to take some blood properly to test properly. I hate needles so much that I often feel lightheaded after. Unfortunately, I did it after the iron test, but the result was fine. I nearly cried with frustration as I could/should have only had the one big proper needle, got the good stuff and then felt ill. It passes quickly but I can't seem to help it. It is a phobia, but I'm better than that. It's more important to donate :(

    .

Good - I tried to give blood once, like you it came back low in iron. Ended up have ing a barium enema:eek: to rule out problems. Then when that drew a blank, they wanted to shove a camera down my throat to which I flatly refused. 15 years later, still tottering about in reasonable health.

I'm cursed by all the Mary Anns. Their mum was called Mary Ann.... do you think they all had mother fixations???

My friend's sister married a Catholic Northern irish man, whose middle name was Mary. It could get worse PN!

Get in the car for 150 mile journey and the satnav/ radio/ camera/ bluetooth unit is dead!

So I have a journey alone with no radio for company, no directions, no phone. No map in the car.

I know the route, but it is weird driving and not knowing if the M25 is 20 miles away or 2 and having nothing to re-route you away from traffic.

I like that, I don't need to know exactly where I am at any given time. I'm convinced that all the tech in cars stops people thinking for themselves.

Suffering with back ache this morning after moving a Spirea from the small front garden round to the side and creating an alpine garden. Apparently they are becoming trendy again and I'm trying to get ahead of the trend curve:rotfl:

    Pron?

That is the only answer that makes sense. Others are pure speculation.

Up until last September (over half way through September really), I didn't have a satnav in the car, phone calls or texts were answered by whatever child was with me but I did have a decent stereo.

I would write the directions in easy to follow numbered stages in big letters on a post it note and stick it in easy sight (or hand it to one of the boys) and go from there.

Despite having the in car satnav now, I still plan my route before I leave and because I don't quite trust it, still have my little sticky notes with reminders of the route (which has been memorised anyway alongside 'driving' the whole route via Google maps in the days before)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Doozergirl Glad to hear your iron is fine! Thank you for giving blood. I used to, but am not allowed to anymore because of having M.E. No one knows yet if it can be transmitted via blood, so we're told not to donate, just in case.

Maggie Lovely photo, thank you :)

bugslet Interesting to hear about the man with Mary as one of his names - that's like the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer :)

It was bad enough when friends of the groom at a wedding I was at (as a member of the choir rather than as a guest) found out his middle name was Augustine, and that's not even a female name. Mind you, all the friends had been in the pub before coming to the church, so they were already well-oiled....

I couldn't live without my traffic updates....For the rest of it, I know my way to Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham etc, basically most of the places I need to go.

Live traffic has saved so many hours stuck on (usually) the M1 I've lost count :)

Just thought I've explored the majority of options for something I was planning in August.

Just rememered a lady from jury service, who I will be sending a message in a minute, who will probably have a contact I need.

    Contacts = no problem
UK-based contacts with a very specific criteria = big problem.....

I'm not allowed to give blood anymore after an emergency transfusion post delivery of James following a haemorrhage. I was a donor prior to that though.

I didn't know that you couldn't give blood if you'd received blood. Always learning.
