    In a parish bulletin (allegedly):

The sermon this morning: 'Jesus Walks on the Water.'
The sermon tonight: ‘Searching for Jesus.'
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Hehe, reminds me of the old modification to a church notice;

    "Jesus Saves"
"but Moses scores off the rebound"

Wasn't there also another one for "Jesus saves"? Someone had added "with the Woolwich" underneath. (Or another Building Society).

New foodie question (from an article in yesterday's paper): avocado or aubergine?

I love avocado (new favourite panini avocado/onion/cheese) but hat aubergine.

Avocado with prawn cocktail. nom nom nom.;)

Aubergine, the food equivalent of the colour beige.:(

    ...

    Cocktail cabinet.
    6 lumps of tree trunk.
    Some broken/shabby 1970s small cars/toys.

    ....

A friend once accosted a tree surgeon and asked for a bit of trunk. She sanded it and used it as a coffee table. Her husband found insects crawling out of it and binned it. Never realised they could have sold it on.

    ... "Jesus saves"...
Back in the late 1970s you'd get the Salvation Army going into pubs collecting money.

I was in a pub one night and they came in; a male friend I was with asked the SA person earnestly "Is it right that Jesus saves?" - the SA person looked all excited that somebody was noticing ... and was about to speak when my friend followed that up with "Can you ask him to save me a girl for Friday night?"

I am now the proud owner of a mouth guard to stop me clenching my jaw when I am asleep so I have been practising wearing it today. Longest so far is 2 minutes before I have to whip it out because having something in my mouth makes me retch...am wondering how I will manage to lie down or sleep with it in?

Last time I was at the dentist, I was offered a triangle shaped piece to grip on one side to rest my mouth open. That made me retch.

michaels Does it fit over your upper teeth?

If so, and you can't get used to it, ask the dentist if you can try one that fits over your lower teeth instead. I found that was much easier to tolerate, though not so effective. (It did help a bit, though.)

My son-in-law has a silicone "lower teeth" one and finds that works very well for him; mine was made of acrylic, I think.

The "upper teeth" one is much harder to tolerate if you are at all snuffly, with a cold or allergy, as well.

My (private) dentist charged me only once for the two guards.
