I've won something I don't really want, that I can't use ... it'll end up as a Xmas present for somebody depending how it looks when it arrives (it's a recipe book).

How did I win it? I appear to have been the only person in the entire world that entered.

I didn't enter to win; it was a "sympathy like/share" really....

I feel quite sorry for them. They sell fabulous sausages, we used to eat them when I was young. Mum/dad used to go out of their way to buy the sausages "as a treat" when they were close to their shop. They've been in business donkeys' years. But it's a harsh world out there in social media and they're simply not putting the effort/budget into that side of the family business I guess.

Once I receive the book I'll show them how it's done and send some traffic their way .... bless them.

    Thanks. I've given that a go. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

At least you have managed to take the battery out. Downside of iPhones is that you can't remove the battery.

Hope it works. Apparently the trick is not to try to switch it on too soon, though no one has defined too soon.

It seems York is on a bouncing trampoline....back on the list but as a very last choice due to the course content.

Still waiting for his PPT to give his feedback on the personal statement so still some time for it to bounce off again although Joe has his heart set on Lincoln and I don't think anything is going to change his mind, just hope now that he gets an offer or it will be the same situation I had with James and NUA (at the time it was NUCA, they've dropped the C since)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Pastures, another option is to give the recipe book to anyone looking for raffle prizes! :D
Churches and schools usually have raffles around Christmas!

My beef about local competitions/raffles is that the prizes are usually 1st a bottle of wine, 2nd and 3rd a box of chocolates, or chocolate biscuits.

I won a little quiz the other day, and the first prize was a bottle of wine, but I don't drink wine, and the next two prizes were boxes of chocolates, and I don't really like (most) chocolate.
Anyway, I said to give the wine to the person who came second, which gave them a nice surprise, and I took the chocs instead and shared them round.

If it had been Scotch or Gin I'd have kept it! :D

Just remember not to boil for ten minutes - five is more than enough to keep it "al dente" :rotfl:

is when it turns up. My friend likes sausages (cooks them atrociously though), so it'd make a good gift for her.

How on earth can someone manage to cook sausages "atrociously"?
You just bung 'em in the frying pan, under the grill, over a BBQ, in the oven or wrapped in foil in the embers of a fire until they're done. If they're black they were overdone - unless they were black pud in which case the colour is of no assistance so go by the crunchiness of the outside.
    Simples.
    ;)

I know. You'd think that .... it's a case of "death by casserole" - it's bizarre how they're done, I was told once, but I've forgotten ... but I think it involves frying them (but not until the skins are hard), then sliding them with a jar of sauce into a regular casserole dish for about an hour. Then the whole lot gets put into the pan again and stirred (don't ask why, I've NO Idea).

They just don't have the "bite" they could've had if they'd simply been fried until dark brown, then served.

    :)

Instead of: Nice sausages, fried, and mash, it ends up as: soft sausages in dark gloop.

I like them both ways but:
    (1) as much fat as possible should be removed in the cooking so oven bakeed on a rack is ideal, if pan fried then the oil needs to be drained off.
    (2) It is possibel to cook them wrong especially on a bbq when you can cook the outside to black and leave the iniside raw...or thinking about it perhaps in a slow cooker where they might be 'cooked but never hot enough to melt off any of the fat or give any sort of 'cooked' flavour.
    I think....

If I'd come second I'd have been fuming at the audacity of you assuming I'd want the wine. I'd prefer the chocolates. I don't drink wine, but I could force my way through most boxes of chocolates. :)

    .

Not audacious! I know the person who came second, and I knew they'd like the wine and they did!
If I hadn't known them, I'd have first asked the organiser to ask them if they'd prefer the wine!
If the worst had come to the worst, I'd have given the wine to someone else, as I didn't want to lug it around with me.
