That sounds like great news on the de-cluttering Lydia - perhaps now you are an expert you should sell your services?
Noooo! Far too exhausting. Stick me in front of a bunch of adolescents who need to learn some physics any day.Right - today is end of holiday homework day. Just finished doing infographic on the 'New India' and a tabloid piece on The Merchant of Venice so off to bed. Today started with a Netball match at 8.30 so despite the hour change it has been a long one.
We've been comparing and contrasting the Sahel and Thar deserts, to the sound of DS trying to provide revision help to his friends over skype.PasturesNew wrote: »I figured that they were pricey ... and I figured if I could get a cheapo, battery operated, wireless speaker ... then I could download the soundtrack from the Internet and get the same result.
Most people wanting one want an outdoor fixed installation, on a building. I just want to pop outside with the speaker and place it by my gate when they pee me off, then flick the sound on .... for 10 minutes until they've moved away.
That would depend on whether the speakers produced a decent response in that frequency range.Never. I know they are hindu and I know they had fireworks last night, so 2&2=4. I do take in parcels for them. Often. It could just as easily be that they are off on holiday and expecting more parcels.
Oops, sorry silvercar - was replying to your comment without really noticing which NP had posted it. Of course it wouldn't be Christmas. I have a very vague concept of a few Jewish festivals - I know purim is about Esther, for example - but know almost nothing about how most of them are celebrated apart from the seder for pesach. I only learned about the importance of getting laurel leaves for sukkot from the NPT. Is there one (or more) that are marked by giving and receiving lots of presents? Or that might involve giving sweeties to next door neighbours?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Hi Lydia, yep, Joe (he is actually Joseph) is the youngest son...thought I better start calling him by his name as he hates being called youngest now he is almost 19, says it makes him sound as if he is a small child. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Haven't been able to do anything due to a chest infection.
Oh dear. Sorry to hear that. Hope you are better now.PasturesNew wrote: »... it's having to turn it on after it's not been on (except for hot water) after 7-8 months that petrifies me.
What you say about freezer noises seems to indicate that you find these things a bit less scary when you understand what they are doing. So perhaps it would be helpful for you to know that the gas bit of the boiler works exactly the same whether it's making hot water or heating the house. If you just want hot water, the gas heats up some water which can go to your taps for you to use. If you want heating as well, the exact same gas thingy heats water - but that's now some water for your taps, and some other water that gets pumped round your radiators. No pressure to reply - just thank the post and I'll know you've read it, and you've no need to say anything in response unless you want to.Oooh further news I had forgotten to pass on, James has been madly applying for jobs as he is now no longer an SR, he has had a couple of interviews and secured part time employment which fits in with his studies! Had his induction yesterday and first proper shift is Wednesday evening.
Well done James. :T

So tired last night that I forgot about the clocks going back, not so much of an issue nowadays because phones and computers automatically do it but I still had to check to make sure they had with my alarm clock which still has to be done manually.
d.
Because I knew I was going away, I did all mine before I went. I have several 'proper' clocks, and even most of my digital ones aren't automatic. My CH programmer and thermostat have to be done manually, too. So does my phone, even though it's got an auto setting! Dunno why.
I always forget to do my car clock.
I do have one clock that stays on BST all year round. It's up high in the bathroom, and I can't be bothered to get the stepladder to change it. I know is's an hour ahead, so that's ok!(I just lurve spiders!)

Ditto to both.
I have a wall clock, microwave and kitchen timer in the kitchen, so I don't need the oven clock as well - I'll probably switch the power off to it so that the clock doesn't show a real time either.0 -
My car clock changed by itself. I don't know how it knew. Possibly having a DAB radio???I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Whereas I was surprised that our car didn't do it automatically. Also had to do my watch, alarm clock, 3 wall clocks and 3 cooker clocks. I am pretty sure the boiler does it automatically - I think just based on it being the last Saturday night in March/October rather than anything telling it to change.
Our old car always seemed to need me to get the manual out to do it because it was so unintuitive and DWs watch used to require a google search for instructions - it was analogue and digital and my normal attempts resulted in the two displays showing different times - 'luckily her watch has now broken' and she just uses her phone.I think....0 -
