I've just received a letter from HMRC.
It would appear that the horned and cloven-hooved one went to work on his ice skates today

Hmm, the rebate was dead easy to claim too - just had to go into my personal tax account and fill in the form to say into what bank account I want it crediting.

Perhaps you might consider compromising with the condition? That's to say, to get a delivery for boring and heavy stuff like loo rolls, cleaning materials stuff, non-perishable bottles, tins and packets that will last. If you can possibly buy a quantity to stock up on, you might only need the delivery once a month.( A big ask, on a weekly budget, I know...... been there, done that, but might be the occasion to dip into any savings just to start you off, then build up a 'delivery pot' for the next month's delivery).

Then once a week, go yourself, but just to buy the perishable stuff. So not too many bags, and won't take so long.

My issue is that even getting just the perishable stuff has become a problem, I still can't manage that even over a few days instead of one shop.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I mostly avoid perishables because ... they're perishable.

I can't get through it before it's gone off and/or I can't guarantee to "fancy" it.

Packets/tins and frozen stuff's the order of the day in my household.

Even if I buy, say, just 1 carrot ... I still have to find the desire to eat it and the motivation to peel/cook it. Bag of frozens FTW.

I don't always have eggs in. I buy 15 eggs, then use them and am fed up with eggs, so I don't buy them for another week or two.

Milk I gave up donkeys years ago as I never got through it, or didn't have any. In recent years I've taken to buying the odd bottle, specifically when I know I'll use it to eat Weetabix.

Fruit ... bananas were what I used to buy. Just 1-2 is more than enough as you still have to fancy eating them and get round to it. More than that and it's a chore. Grapes are my new thing, they're easy to nibble :)

Tomatoes are tricky.... I bought a pack about 10 days ago, still not opened it. Nearly put them in the SC yesterday, but decided against it. Might make a tomato sandwich later.... or not. Depends if I fancy it.

"All manner of salad stuff" I generally avoid. Can't eat a whole lettuce, not that keen on them anyway (pointless green stuff); cucumbers are too large and daunting to get through - and buying half you feel ripped off.

I am able bodied and have decided to switch back to deliveries (haven't had them for ages but used to a lot) because they're a better use of my limited time, and they help me to be more organised about planning ahead with food. Perhaps if you think about other benefits of getting your shopping delivered, you could get deliveries without feeling that you're giving in to the illness.

Nobody's suggesting you lie down and play dead, let the illness have its way with you and never leave the house at all, but sometimes it's wise to prioritise - perhaps not going grocery shopping yourself would enable you to use your capacity to push through the pain to do something that's actually fun, that at the moment you can't manage because boring old food shopping has taken too much out of you.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Just been doing the much vaunted cheap energy switch thing. Turns out with my actual data the headline "best" tariff for average users isn't the cheapest, so am switching to Mr S Energy dual fuel, fixed for a year, which is a few quid a month cheaper for me. My current supplier's "compare with similar homes" tool suggests that I use more gas and less leccy than others. This would make sense because I like to be warm which pushes my gas usage up - and without my tado it would be even higher - and am a part-timer so am heating my house during the day on some weekdays. However I also have my PV panels to bring my leccy usage down. Hmm... although I improved my home's insulation when I moved in, perhaps I should look into doing more along those lines???

:( That's awful. The person delivering news like that should be properly equipped with the information to answer any questions. Hope tomorrow's person is more helpful.

Sending hugs to you and yours (if that's OK) hug.gif
