Oh dear Sue, I hope things go better tonight
Hot here today, with a gentle breeze which I'm hoping will be just enough to dry the washing i'll be hanging out presently. It's work stuff of DS's, which he is of course quite capable of washing himself, but rushed off and forgot to see to it.
Dianne That looks as if it's going to be a nice size
Doozergirl I hope your DD is looking forward to her new school and isn't too nervous.0 -
Horrendous night for me, jumpy leg, couldn't sleep then tummy troubles which had me throwing up at 5 am this morning (too much wheat). All told I got about 2 and a half hours sleep and by goodness do I feel rough this morning.
Sorry to hear things have been so rough. Hope you can catch up with some sleep soon.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
If only we could store sleep....on the wish list.....0

We're on holiday by the sea here in Norfolk. There's that perpetual wonderful "sea breeze" which is always enough wind to stop you getting too hot.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I understand sea breezes can be annoying for many when you live too close to the sea and had friends moved almost on to the beach..always too windy or chilly 95% of the time but step back a bit and its wonderful in my experiences....That would be the only thing I miss so far...as I use to often be up early very early and take myself the short ride down to the beach for a very enjoyable walk along with the dustcart workers normally...

A funny thing at our holiday house here - we've been sort of burgled. Possibly I left the back door unlocked last time because I drove off in a hurry, or they have a key. Anyway, I changed the locks.
They bagged up some goodies, but didn't take them. I suspect they finally realised it wasn't worth their while. Their haul, had they taken it, would have consisted of 4 tins of tuna, some tinned custard, a bag of Doritos, an old electric drill which never worked well and now scarcely works at all (the battery won't hold charge), and a few more items like that. Their best find was an unopened bottle of Lidl whisky. The truth is that there's nothing here worth stealing. They left some tinned chickpeas, but selected the custard and doritos, so they are not very health-conscious.
They were also very tidy - it was hard to tell they had been. It's a shame they didn't do any cleaning whilst they were here, really. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I love the wind! I find it soothing. But, of course, there's a big difference between coming to the seaside occasionally and living there year-round.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Aw, thanks, Ivyleaf!
Uniform all purchased, no sign of big nerves yet. She had a taster day in July so hopefully that's taken the edge off itEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The wind is different in the South West. It's windier than, say, the East coast. Additionally, having spoken about the windy conditions "right here", people are also responding that they've noticed it's particularly windy/more often... so I am in a windy corner of the windiest part of the UK.
I hate the wind....0 -
A funny thing ...
Real ferals, proper jobs, would've either taken it straight away, or trashed the place, or held a party there later that day after a Facebook invite to the public.
Could be something as "innocent" as two 10 year old, quiet, girls from 2-3 doors up who were just "intrigued" by the empty house a few doors along and bored in the holidays, on an "adventure", rather than a criminal element as such.0
