Full of bicycles, quite a lot of electric cars, no trams.

If you fixed for 5 years, 3 years ago, your payments should be unchanged.

Had I not fixed I could have gone for short term deals of 1-2% not the 2.5% we are paying - or I could have used our savings that were getting 3% and are now getting only 2% to pay off the mortgage.

In my mind rates would have started rising by now and that positive gap between our borrowing and savings rate would have increased. Instead it is now set to turn negative and there is nothing we can do until October 2018 :(

Josh took up the cello last year as the uni offered free lessons in any instrument of their choice. Think he got on ok with the playing but he struggled with the formal nature of the lessons, he's a freestyler and it felt too restrictive.

That was the advantage of the teacher we picked. Would do it differently and not go through the usual repertoire used for child learners.

In effect, you borrowed long to invest short. Fortunately, you seem to have got off fairly lightly.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

... won a car on ebay. Suggested to the seller ... NPs opinion?

IMHO it's an auction; you won. Do the deal, don't start sounding like the buyer from hell after the end of the auction.

    Auction... hammer. The end.

You don't think I have bought as described and if it turns out to be different from described then I am in my right to reconsider?

    I'm kind of with PN.

If it's an auction, it's an auction and people probably don't want messing with.

If they want to negotiate, it would be an ad? I don't think for a second that you'd be buying something that you didn't think was a bargain.

If it was a house, it would be yours. The due diligence comes before, not after.

i don't think you're cheeky for asking, particularly, but does winning an auction give you the right to check it all out after other people have bid and lost? Not really.

I had it with a kitchen. The buyer's "builder" was loopy and couldn't seem to comprehend that a 60cm unit is 64cm when it has removable end panels either side. It all ended up in a skip because I didn't have time to resell it.

Would it make sense for every bidder to pay 150 quid on an inspection just as it wouldn't have made sense for the buyer to come and view your kitchen unit before the auction. The description says no mechanical issues, as long as that is true the purchase will go through. I have sold a car through ebay, if the buyer had turned up and found anything not as described then I would accept that they could walk away.

How high is the redemption penalty?

As far as I am aware, for the vast majority of car sales on Ebay, once you have won, you have won, it is not a purchase dependent on getting it checked out.

You may find some sellers who would be willing to do what you want to do but they are very few and far between....generally, the one who bids the highest is the one who has bought it, due diligence should be done prior to purchase.

As Doozer and PN says, it is an auction and once the hammer goes down (or in this case, the time runs out and your bid is the highest), you are the owner regardless of the condition or any problems later discovered.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
