Getting the car looked at after the auction's finished is a bit too late for buyer's remorse. I'm afraid. If nobody won it and you contacted them privately then that's negotiable (but carries its own risks), but winning then adding unexpected conditions isn't part of the deal in ebay. You might be lucky and they're OK about it but you can't take it for granted.

The main consensus seems to be that ebay is a bad way to sell or buy cars? It's clearly unreasonable to expect a buyer to make a car purchase based on a few photos. So, if the only buyers can be local ones who can come round and inspect before bidding, what's the point of a national auction?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I suspect it (ebay motor auctions) only really works within particular geographical areas. I've never been keen on looking for cars on it.

But if a suitable car becomes available hundreds of miles away but I have family there who can look at it, I'll buy there (but not by auction). Done that three times now, has worked well for me.

eBay do classifieds too. Brother in law swears by it. Told us that we shouldn't have bothered with Autotrader as no one uses it anymore.

How high is the redemption penalty?

    How much is this car?

It's all about how much with you lot.

I think there is some figure of about 30% of eBay vehicles have to be relisted because the buyer fails to make contact or views the vehicle and changes their mind. There is no effective way of trying to enforce the eBay auction result - after all the buyer if pressed could claim it was not as described.

5% for any early redemption in during the 5 year fixed period. (10% of outstanding balance per year is permitted but can not be re-drawn).

2050 - it is being inspected tomorrow for 175. It is only 25 miles away but I am not qualified to inspect.
    I think....

OH and I have been making notes on my PIP assessment yesterday. I thought some of you might be interested. We made it back safely to the caravan despite even more grief with the bloody Renault - fuel filler cap locked and won't unlock! (long story), stopping in Alports in Pwllheli where I had battered plaice and chips and OH had the last portion of chicken curry with rice... He finished off my plaice and chips, and we shared a pot of tea. It's a nice place if you're in the area, and the chips are really brilliant!

Totally knackered this morning as OH and I sat up till 1 am going over and over the interview!

(((HUGS))) Maggie, no wonder you're tired and, I imagine, very stressed after that! When I went for a WCA I was seen by a physio, who also introduced herself only by her first name.

I need to catch up with the thread as I've been off for several days as not been very well.

Great to see you back, though! :A

    Aw, thank you Pyxis.

Be better ok? I'm going to do my longest day alone for ages in a couple of weeks ( dog show in Birmingham) and I'm excited to be able to. Not exhibiting though.....just handing the dog over to someone else. :D, there are limits! :D.
