No. Big question is whether foxes chew cables or whether they eat rats/ field mice who do chew cables?

They definitely do the former. If Dad hadn't turned his water feature pump off at night we'd have had fried fox in the morning.

lights are LED. The voltage must be too low to fry fox.

SO I need to get them out and to seal the gaps to prevent them going back. It's going to be difficult. I reckon scrunched up chicken wire all around the edge, lobbed underneath may work.

a digital thermometer that tells the temperature inside and outside (no idea how it does that, but there's a length of thin wire on it so maybe you're supposed to lob that out of the window).

If it's like the one I use for my freezer, it's basically got two thermocouples, one in the box and one on the end of the lead. The Inside temperature is that of the box itself and the Outside one is the temperature of the prod on the end of the wire - which really makes sense since my prod is inside the freezer and the box is outside ;)

So, yes, if you want to measure the outdoor temperature and the indoor one, shove the wire out of the window. You could do it the other way round but that'd make the readings harder to see and the buttons extremely difficult to press (if you stay indoors) - or you rather cold when it's a cold day ;)

5 volts wouldn't fry much at all. Probably wouldn't even give them a tingle as they chew through the cables. Remember "testing" PP3 batteries using your tongue? Those are nearly twice the voltage.

Evening all... won't be around this evening, I wish my fellow viewers a fun evening. Off to watch Eurovision Pointless, though others will say the main act is pointless Eurovision.

I thought LED were low wattage rather than low voltage?

Really wouldn't want to retrieve fried fox from under the decking.

    Both - watts = volts x amps.

I was assuming that your lights were fed by a low voltage supply off a discrete power supply, however I could have been wrong and you have them directly off mains - like my bayonet-fit LED "bulbs" in most of my light pendants in the house.

What do you do when you like eclairs but not the sickly chocolate strip down the top?

Well, you either do what I've been doing up to now, on the odd occasion when I've fancied a naked eclair, and that's peel off the chocolate strip and pop it in the food waste bin, OR :j:j go to Sainsbury's cream cake counter, where I found today that they do, as well as chocolate eclairs, scrumptious raspberry eclairs! :T:T

Just eaten them, and they're yummy! :)

They also do a high-fired bread loaf, which is basically burnt on the top. I don't usually buy white bread, but I love a blackened crust. Yum yum, had a couple of slices of burnt bread and butter!

    What a nutritious meal, not!

Raspberry eclairs and burnt bread and butter!

(Don't worry, all the red, green and yellow veg and the fish is on the menu for tomorrow! )

Oh! Wait a minute! I did have cheese and apple for breakfast! So that's one fruit!

Oh! And there were raspberries in the eclairs! That's two fruits!

Oh! And I also bought some cans of gin and pink grapefruit. Grapefruit! That's three fruits, then!

    Lets go :)

I'm watching with Georgian commentary tonight (as I'm in a bar), but will be playing along for everything but Graham Norton.

Luckily I'm a close walk to Liverpool Street station, as I really wouldn't want to be walking far after it :)

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to buy some road cones.

I believe the road belongs to everyone so trying to protect a part of it with cones would be a sure fire way of alienating all the neighbours.
    I think....
