...trouble started .... went on for years ...

That's it... you have to try to be a bit smarter. Keeping a low profile's good; omnipresence might deter some; hoping somebody bigger will "have a word" with Her Indoors and all that.

If you just tell them off, then once they're bored, or become a bit more feral, you can easily become the focus.

    Nom! I bet they're amazing.

I've never made crumpets. I am generally awful at yeast cooking.

I tried making sourdough over the time I had off. FAIL!

I'd be circumspect about turfing kids off where they are playing. Firstly playing outside actually isn't unreasonable, assuming they take appropriate care of the property of others around them.

Secondly a mate of mine rented a very, very nice flat down by the Thames at Tower Bridge at a bargain price; I don't think the rent even covered the service charge in fact I'm almost certain it didn't. Why did they get they get the place so cheaply? The owners had bought the place and 'decided' that the kids loitering about on the Thames footpath had to go (the kids had a perfect legal right to be there) and it turned into an all out war. The owners couldn't sell and couldn't live in the flat.

My mate and his BF turned up and invited the kids up to a BBQ they were having. Gave them a couple of beers and a cheap steak. Not a hint of a problem after that.

    8.30? It's not even 8 here yet!

I've just eaten crumpets - still got sticky hands as I had crumpets with golden syrup - that stuff gets everywhere, but I'm trying to eat things "a tiny bit differently" most days..... so instead of my usual marg I had lemon curd on them yesterday and golden syrup today. Lemon curd'd gone brown on the top, best before 2 years ago - I'm sure that bit was fine, but I did spoon it out anyway as I've still the rest of the jar which'll probably take another 2-3 years to get through.

Not home made though - no point making crumpets when I can buy a pack of 6 for about 37p :)

That seems reasonable, but at ground level it's not what happens. They've a garden, so it's not a flat where they're stuck - and the 'car park' isn't public. It's not a car park, it's individually owned pieces of land with numbered parking bays, where no part of it is "public" but everybody has a ROW to get across/back - it's not a play area. It's really tight in there at times too.

From what I've not seen and not heard, I think the inhabitants of the house are "normal people", aka not feral, tattoo'd scum .... but they are clearly in the camp of sending the kids away from the house/garden so THEY can get some peace. Bothering other people, being a nuisance, etc, doesn't matter so long as it's not the parents being inconvenienced.

Adjoining house has 3 kids about the same size. NEVER seen them out there playing more than, say, twice for 10 minutes in 2 years. They play in their garden.

When you said you were stuffing crumpets, my initial thought was that you were stuffing them like people stuff tomatoes. Very puzzling.

    I thought the same.

And couldn't figure out how you'd stuff a crumpet or what with. :D

Anyway... This place is quiet on a Sunday morning.

Apparently everyone has a much better social life than I do on a Saturday night these days. :)

One card you can reasonably play with the parents is the elfin safety one, ie you're worried the little elves might get run over by people reversing their cars.

I don't think the concept that this isn't a car park will cut much ice. It looks like a car park, it barks like a car park ... No, I'm getting carried away with my metaphors.

I really fancy the sound of stuffing crumpet whilst DW sleeps elsewhere but the new German students don't arrive till this afternoon. These ones are early 20s.
    I think....
