I thought that, go see the little man.
The rest I pretty much keep on top of due to what I learnt/experienced/saw the first time I had this problem. But "under the shed" is the weakest link.... it's raised. It sits on a solid base of patio slabs, but is then on a base of five horizontal "runs" between six spacer batons. Given lots of space and access to materials I'd just get a strip of metal stuff and nail it all round that part, but access/ability is an issue.0 -
Vibration, I think.
But it doesn't work in Ireland.
That's because the moles are too used to the vibrations from all those leprechauns doing their jigs.
Either that, or they got fed up with all the holes being dug for the pots of gold, and so swam to the Isle of Man.
Pastures, a 6" gnaw? That's one hell of a gnaw! Are you sure it isn't a capybara?(I just lurve spiders!)

Have been doing some reading. Apparently rats dislike certain smells... citrus, ammonia, peppermint.
Could you put one of these on some cotton wall balls, then put each ball in its own container, such as a clean can or similar, and place these under your shed? It won't cost much and will be easier to do than the shed diy. You'd need to change every couple of days to keep the smell going, but they would hate it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Are there no moles in Ireland? Like snakes?
The moles ate all the snakes before they swam away to the Isle of Man.(I just lurve spiders!)

I put the recycling out this week, so a bit short on things to use, but I can find something....
Just need to find the most cost effective way of buying peppermint oil, here, today, now.
I have peppermint oil jotted on my list of things to look for when I'm out/about. I do have a lemon balm in the garden... might pluck a few leaves and drop them down there for now. Currently clearing all the other plants around the lemon balm (no idea what they are.... "small blue flowers at the end of long furry stems with furry leaves". It's slow going though. I'm using the hand shears to cut each individual stem then cutting that into small pieces so it's a smaller volume to cart away, but I "did my back in" lifting some compost into a basket the other day, so that's really not helping. Currently managed to chop one plant from a row of 5. They'd give cover if it were running/hiding, so best gone.0 -
Some years I have foxes under my shed.
I wonder if a fox would see a rat off?
Would rats be deterred by lion dung? The smell of a big huge predator?
If so, you could try that. It seemed to work for me in deterring cats.(I just lurve spiders!)

I've cut half the lawn. I hate any form of gardening.... I really do... so this in itself is a huge achievement so "early" in the day.
Half = had to empty the clippings box twice.
It's not the grass cutting bit that's the worst.... the worst is getting to the edges and thinking "should've cut that long bit first with the shears and flicked it onto the lawn, then I'd have been hoovering that bit up right now. *sighs*.
Did I mention ... I do hate gardening.
Half way through cutting the flowers.... hating that too.... started snipping each stem into small pieces, then graduated to not giving a t055 and dropping them in a heap in the middle of the lawn.... so, I could give those a run over with the mower, see if it shaves them
And even when it is all done .... I have to then take it all to the tip. That's not far but ... when you HATE gardening ... it's a painful chore.
What's also painful is that all these jobs I HATE (did I mention that?) are just being done really as "real work avoidance tactics" as I really need to "do something" about the real issue here.... but undecided as to what I could achieve just today, locally.
*sighs*
Hate Gardening.... hate things that run across gardens....0 -
Hey, but you've almost finished it now, and will still have most of the day left for something nicer - and hopefully doof-free.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
