I've wondered if the Antarctic bases have ever had them. I expect that in the future some will make it offworld.
A friend of mine once got a job in Hawaii and we wondered how earthworms got there as they're volcanic islands. Actually I googled it recently and you can't import them there. How does soil form? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Are there any up Everest, do you think?
I wouldn't be surprised if there were some at (at least) the lower camps - which are, or have been, a right mess with people leaving all their rubbish behind. Probably depends on their tolerance to the cold.I bet they haven't managed to get to the ISS yet, though!
Not yet but I think there are plans to take some there0 -

Maybe the import restriction is because the Hawaiian ones are a distinct species which they don't want destroying or otherwise affected by interlopers.0 -
On the subject of unwanted animals, the best story I heard was when B&Q started selling those little windmills on sticks that some claim will drive moles off. They put them on sale in all their stores, including Belfast
Even better, they actually sold some in the Belfast store :rotfl:0 -

What was the rationale behind them supposedly driving moles away?
Vibration transmitted down the sticks?
Or to dissociate themselves from someone who would stick windmills in their lawn?(I just lurve spiders!)

Pastures, I use this site a lot, for very detailed weather. Just tap in your town into the search bar, and you'll get 7 days of hour-by-hour weather, inc. precipitation likelihood, temperature, feels like, wind speed etc.
Obviously, the closer to the actual day you get, the more accurate it is, but if you want to know if you can put your washing out today, type thing, it's very useful.
I used it yesterday to see whether our AmDram would get rained on, and although it had rained heavily earlier, I was telling everyone that we wouldn't get rained on for the performances, and was proved right, despite some very doubtful faces!

I've got a collection of sticks and also 'good poky things' of different lengths and thicknesses, poking for the use of.
Why are you laughing?
They have proved very useful!(I just lurve spiders!)

My washing line is right next to the fence. 2' from it is the waste skip for the site, which is perpetually having all manner of building cr4p/dust/debris tossed randomly in it, from great and low heights - and a big lorry collects it almost daily. Looming above the line are many builders, doing what builders do ... cutting tiles, cutting bricks, creating dust.
Even if the line were moved, with all that going on, it'd make no difference in a garden sized 20' wide and about 30' long or so.
Nobody would dry their washing on a building site.
But they don't work at weekends
It's like all those puzzles - you are so clever! The solution is completely logical, once it's been explained. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
It's food they are after. If you have no food or shelter options in your garden they will be more interested in places that do... but that doesn't stop them using your garden to get to them.
I'd start by mowing my lawn, making sure there aren't bits of old planting where they can make shelter, remove any upturned bin lids or other sources of water they can drink from. But more importantly ask the builders to take their food scraps away as you have seen rats on their site and they are coming through your garden to get there. Then they can sort out the traps etc. The ball will be in their court not yours. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
