It didn't rain.
What I didn't know ... was they'd want to go in EVERY room and measure every wall, architrave, sill height, width, window heights, drops, everything.... every inch.
I'd cleared most of this room by .... taking it upstairs, opening a door and lobbing it in
Oh well - I'm sure they've seen worse.
But they did say something that I called them out on - they said "can't go closer to the boundary than 1m" and I said "Last man (partner of the firm) said it wouldn't be a problem ....." and these two were both about aged 25, so I'm hoping he's right and they're misinformed/misunderstood.
Well, I don't know if things vary from area to area, but when my neighbours had a kitchen extension. They went right up to the boundary with me, so much so that I think their guttering is a bit over my side!(I just lurve spiders!)

Single storey you can go to the boundary (subject to height) but may need party wall agreement. Worrying if an architect doesn't know that.I think....0

Worrying if an architect doesn't know that.
I think it was "young lad/trainee just does first site visit/measure etc + the admin person trailing writing down the numbers for him".... and I'll get "a proper one" a bit later in the design process etc.
Bloke I first met, partner, was sounding knowledgeable enough when I met him.
I'm sure it'll be all right on the night, as they say.0 -

Which is better? Kids putting wrappers in a bin, whether it's theirs or not - or just chucking them on the ground?0 -

That is a fair point - however, I'm still of the view that at least they put it in "a" bin, something that far too many adults can't be ar**ed to do.
It's a start. Now they need their education enhanced with instruction as to what goes in what bin.0 -

The point is, I'd not now DARE to put out my bins any earlier than necessary (as the van's reversing into the area) .... in case all manner of random cr4p were dripped into my bin.... when I've been VERY careful to ensure everything's correct, neat, clean, dry, tidy and "pleasant" for the workers to have to deal with as part of their day's work... careful to not cause any unnecessary irritation, by sticking to the rules.
If you put the wrong stuff in you could contaminate an entire load.
Wrapper today ... but it could be anything next month ... and beyond.
But, the thing is - they shouldn't be fiddling with stuff and touching stuff that's not theirs when they're already doing things in places they shouldn't even be in, doing other things that irritate a lot of people.0 -

Nobody wants to sit next to a smelly/shouty drunk. Nobody wants to witness a drunken fight between travellers or traveller/staff. Nobody wants it.
Ban it I say - it's not needed... if people don't have the self-restraint to not drink for some hours then they should be denied the route.
Peasants...
I'd let people drink, have bars, but pleasant drinkers. Not oafs.
Dutch courage is two halves in the 1-2 hours before a flight.... not 6-8 pints.
You would make an interesting Prime Minister.Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Actually, I agree with Pastures.
I was once out front, when I saw a dog-walker lift the lid of a neighbour's bin and deposit his doggy-doo bag in it.
He had put it in the recycling bin.
(I since found out he was a local, so he should have known that).
I politely informed him that he had put dog poo in a recycling bin, whereupon he said nastily, "What's it to you?"
So, I explained that the bin was my neighbour's and we look out for each other, and his bag of dog poo now contaminated the recycling load.
He told me to F off and walked away.
I told my neighbour what was in his bin, and he knew who the guy was, by virtue of his dog.
On a similar note, our refuse bin is only emptied every 2 weeks, not weekly. I usually go out to bring back my emptied bin as soon as the bin-men have been.
One morning I was later than usual, due to having had a bad night. When I went out, I lifted the lid as usual, to check it had been emptied and was greeted by a foul stench.
A dog-walker, I didn't see who it was, had deposited their dggy-doo bag in my bin. After the bin men had been.
Ok, I t was a refuse bin, not recycling, but it now meant that it had to sit there for two weeks, stinking away, before the bin would be emptied again.
People are so foul sometimes:
"I don't care where my muck and mess goes, or whom it inconveniences, as long as I don't have to deal with it".
I really do think we should bring back the stocks for anti-social behaviour. Name, shame and throw rotten tomatoes (and maybe dog-poo) at them.
And I'm a tolerant, liberal sort of person, but some things really get my gander up! Invasion of my space and making needless work for me through selfishness being one of them.:((I just lurve spiders!)
