I've been using an aerator tool instead - a frame containing half a dozen tubes, which seems to work quite well.
I did read up about the aerator spiked overshoes. I was particularly amused at the hint not to put them on whilst still in the shed - else you might never get out of the shed :rotfl:
That reminded me of those things you can get to put under shoes when you're walking on ice and snow.
I got some one year, and they were great, until I wanted to go in a shop, and so had to remove them. When it came to leaving the shop, they were too difficult to put back on while standing up.
I might have just about managed it once, but I was in and out of shops.
I think you can get some boots where, on the flick of a lever, some spikes come down. That might be a good idea.(I just lurve spiders!)

I loathe airports. Heathrow is OK to arrive at as I can get a bus from there to my door. But leaving from there is a horrible experience. Gatwick's a bit more chilled and City airport is a nice toytown airport.
I like visiting Paris but I'd never fly there now that there's the Eurostar. It's immensely more relaxing to go by train.
That's funny, because I prefer Heathrow! :rotfl:
Only been from City once, about 15 years ago, but it was nice!
I've never been on Eurostar!
The small airport nearest me would be great, if I could actually fly to anywhere from it! It hardly goes to anywhere! The next nearest one is a bit better, but still very, very limited. So I have to traipse up to Heathwick.More time, more expense. Right nuisance.

I'm at that stage where it's nearly time to "lurk" in anticipation of an arriving visitor, who will need to be waved at and directed to where they need to be....
The site was shutting up shop by 4pm and everybody gone.... so I made the appointment for 4pm so as to not be directly under a gang of shouting/banging workmen looming just 5' above our heads and just 3' the other side of the fence... and I thought that was genius. However, yesterday, randomly, they all stayed later! Hoping they'll "s0d off on time" today!
And if that weren't enough of a worry - there are black heavy rainclouds looming and loitering with intent to p155 on my bonfire.
EDIT: There's still movement on the scaffolds, but it's gone mostly quiet ... except for one bad whistler... so I'm hoping they're off on time... but it's getting darker by the second!0 -

I never go to the cinema, but I've been twice this week. Both times to beautiful restored Art Deco cinemas.
On Saturday saw Beauty and the Beast (lovely film) at the Odyssey in michaelsville; then tonight went to see Hidden Figures at the Rex in Berkhamsted. I can highly recommend both the cinemas and the films.
Here's pics of the Rex:

And here's the Odyssey:

They look lovely, viva.

Sorry, the link doesn't seem to work, will try again when I've caught up with the thread.0 -

Why do they stop at 4pm at this time of year?(I just lurve spiders!)

Pyxis "Our" builders across the road finished at about 4 p.m.as well - they do start at 0700 now it's light early though.
PN I hope the visitor was helpful.0 -
Builders didn't stop work .... they're still at it. But it was fewer so less shouting/noise and stuff.
It didn't rain.
What I didn't know ... was they'd want to go in EVERY room and measure every wall, architrave, sill height, width, window heights, drops, everything.... every inch.
I'd cleared most of this room by .... taking it upstairs, opening a door and lobbing it in
Oh well - I'm sure they've seen worse.
But they did say something that I called them out on - they said "can't go closer to the boundary than 1m" and I said "Last man (partner of the firm) said it wouldn't be a problem ....." and these two were both about aged 25, so I'm hoping he's right and they're misinformed/misunderstood.0 -

Nothing could be worse than Stansted for a 6AM flight to Spain. There were three hen parties on board, already well tanked up at that time in the morning.
We did pop into a bar for a drink the next afternoon, and there was a group of hens looking very, very sorry for themselves. Still, you're only young once, and it's good to have FUUUUUNNNNNNNN!!!
Eurostar for us, too.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
If I owned an airport I'd ban anybody from being drunk. They're a nuisance to everybody and a potential danger....
Nobody wants to sit next to a smelly/shouty drunk. Nobody wants to witness a drunken fight between travellers or traveller/staff. Nobody wants it.
Ban it I say - it's not needed... if people don't have the self-restraint to not drink for some hours then they should be denied the route.
Peasants...
I'd let people drink, have bars, but pleasant drinkers. Not oafs.
Dutch courage is two halves in the 1-2 hours before a flight.... not 6-8 pints.0 -

Not personally. However, experts have been and reviewed. Make your own judgement on the bias of the comments based on the source. If I owned an airport I'd ban anybody from being drunk. They're a nuisance to everybody and a potential danger....

But a great source of revenue. Also, some [STRIKE]business men with beer bellies[/STRIKE] frequent flyers may well have a greater tolerance of alcohol than your average punter. Everyone is aware that too drunk an appearance and you risk being refused to fly.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
