If you are getting 2 kbps that is 20 times slower than a dial-up connection. There is something seriously wrong with your connection and you need to contact your ISP.

I'm with Tox - talk to your ISP.. and check your DSL settings.. 1.8Mg isn't bad for D/L though depending on how far you are from your Exchange.
If you think you have a virus you will need to download and install AV software though and run a complete scan.
Even if it is slow - let the download complete and install..0 -
Try starting your computer in safe mode:
Click on start>>turn off computer>>restart
then as soon as your screen goes dark press and hold F8
(Just for those who don't know. This makes sure that only windows operating programs and drivers are loaded and not any "installed software" which can include viruses - again for those who may not know.)
Choose "start in safe mode" from the list you'll see. Follow the clues
Now try running any and all of the virus checking software you have.
Reboot after fixing stuff - then see the sticky at the top of the forum and see if you have better luck downloading and running the various recommended programs in it.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Like Squeaky says, get the AV installed.. Maybe a free for home use Malware checker also, full SCAN, in Safe mode if you can't run in normal mode..0

BTW - if you have things like Adwatch or Zone Alarm installed...
Do NOT load them while scanning and repairing with any AV software that you run here.
You're not on line, so you're quite safe, and programs such as these can block the repairs and registry corrections that you are trying to do.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thanks to all those of you who replied to my post. I have just discovered that the problem was caused by the Netgear router, I have just reinstalled the original TalkTalk modem and as a consequence downloads are at least 10 times faster!0
