First day back in 'old' super-physical job today. It went better than I expected. :D

  • Hello :hello:
Twiggy - hope the interview went well.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes - I've had a much needed rest today, and I'm pretty confident that normal service will be resumed tomorrow. DH did the school run, and as I wanted I didn't leave the house. I watched rubbish tv, napped, drank too much tea and crocheted a bit. I could get used to days like that. :D

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread Jonno :)
Well, the weather here wasn't as bad as feared last night (we live inland, worse on the coast) but warnings are still in place for today :(

    Done so far:
Fed chickens and collected 1 egg :)
Washed hair with my favourite shampoo - it comes in huge bottles from Lidls and costs something like 80p :rotfl:
Cheapie breakfast of porridge, stewed plums from the freezer and a spoonful of Lidls Greek yogurt :)
Heating on only in bathroom and airing cupboard

    Still to do:
Feed dog - if he has now eaten all of his last night's food, hope he hasn't been getting tips from Mrs F's cat :rotfl:Done
Dog walks x 2 - hopefully micro mutt won't be blown away in the high winds :rotfl: Well, we went out twice, though we didn't get far (started to rain both times, refused to walk, looked like an RSPCA case :rotfl:)
Go to farm suppliers for chicken supplies if not too windy - not going out if it looks dangerous though, as we can manage another day with what we have :)Stayed in!
Go through seed tin and see what I need to buy for the upcoming season. I will walk to the pound shop with the list when the weather settles down, as they have quite a good selection in there. Done, made a list, not much to buy :)
Pull up more caterpillar and pigeon ravaged brassicas for the chickens - definitely won't bother again, they always get eaten by something, and our tiny space is better used for other things! Done
Ask OH to put up pictures (and take down huge stags head / skull / antlers thing currently 'gracing' our chimney breast ). It is something he has done for a client, and apparently some filler or paint or something needed a warm place to dry. It looks like a huge moose or something  I'm sure other people don't have to put up with those :rotfl:Done pictures up and 'moose' banned back to workshop :)
HM meals from stores :)Done, rest of celery soup for lunch, some of the bolognese I made yesterday for dinner :)
Any online surveys, check FPL Found a couple for onepoll
Put stuff for charity shop in a carrier bag and leave ready to take when I next go out Oops not done
Post an item for RM surveys, and some competition entries using free stamps from doing the survey :)Done, coincided with a dog walk (or rather a walk for me with dog tucked inside my coat)
Light wood burner later, and put on kettle for 'free' hot water Done

Decided not to go out today (apart from attempting to exercise the dog), the weather was awful and there was no need. Lazy day spent by the woodburner mostly :o DD and DGD appeared this afternoon, so I spent a couple of hours playing with DGD :)

It is still very windy now, but the forecast is a bit better tomorrow. From what I have seen on the news / heard elsewhere we have got off lightly, no power cuts and no damage. The river has burst its banks which is a worry for some, but again, I think ok for us - although it is not that far away, our house is on ground that is quite a bit higher.

Hoping to go out tomorrow, to the farm suppliers and my sales unit. At least I managed another NSD :D

Said this in the wrong thread earlier so I thought I'd post it here where it's supposed to go haha

My DFW action of the day - get a better gas/leccy deal.

Just wanted to say - if you've not spoken to your gas or electric supplier in a while, give them a friendly call! I just got Scottish Power to reduce my direct debits every month to a more manageable amouint (I don't need to be paying so much into it to create a surplus, I barely ever use my heating).

Not only that, they told me about a cheaper tariff and now I'm paying £50 less A MONTH!

    What a result!
    Brilliant you found us

CCL I am pleased you have taken the day off, you need to look after yourself.

Sorry to hear about the damage caused by Imogen.

Me and OH bought lots of free wood from the wood shed into the house so it is easier for me this week as well as some solid fuel in case I just want to keep the fire in.

I've been keeping to my DFW ways, no energy to post, but I have managed to keep up for the last few days.
