Vent - McDonald's Big Breakfast
Comments

Probably related to cost - more expensive to include loads of things in the big breakfast so profit it low on each one sold. Divide into smaller items (bacon / sausage only) and you can still charge the same amount but profit is larger...
Only a guess as never have one myself (did like pancakes but that was at the MCDs near Lake Powell in the USA as the hotel didn't have a restaurant and only thing open serving breakfast!)0 -
They didn't stop the big breakfast... I use to love one of them!0

oh what a shame! End of an era!
I would say that it was a popular item, i never notice people ordering bagels and wraps!
Saying that its only something i order every now and again as if i go through the drive through a sausage and egg mcmuffin is more convenient.
Maybe i'll drop them a line also0 -

I'm not sure it is a cost thing - maybe an effort thing - maybe the scrambled egg is more effort than omelette or round egg and they are simplifying what they cook?Big breakfast = sausage patty, muffin, hash brown and scrambled egg - probably 2 eggs worth.
I usually got a Big Breakfast meal and I'm sure a Big Breakfast meal cost more than a sausage muffin meal and the only difference food wise is that you get the slice of cheese in the sausage muffin whereas the Big Breakfast has no cheese, but maybe a bit more egg - so cost of food is probably the same?
(And for the health freaks out there I had this meal once or twice a month at most and am not overweight).0 -
Heaving read this thread, I am glad that I am one of the few people in Britain who has never eaten at a McDonald's, and never, ever will! The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
Dear
Thank you for your email to Paul Pomroy, our Chief Executive Officer, which has been passed for my attention. I’m sorry you’re disappointed that we’ve removed the Big Breakfast from our breakfast menu. The Big Breakfast has formed part of our menu since 1983 and we understand that it is both a nostalgic and popular choice with some of our customers.
As a business, we’re constantly evolving and reviewing our menu choices to make sure all the products we offer are what our customers really want. These reviews allows us to look at the menu as a whole or introduce new products to our core menu.
Of course, this does mean that from time to time, we may replace an item or withdraw it completely, as in this case with the Big Breakfast. We realise that it’s not always possible to make everyone happy and again I am sorry that you have been particularly affected by this decision.
It goes without saying we value all customer feedback, positive or otherwise. Any comments we receive about this recent change and are being monitored and shared with the relevant departments as a matter of course.
Whilst this may be of little consolation to you, we do have other breakfast items on our menu that you may want to give a try. As such, if you could let us have your postal address I will arrange for a meal voucher to be sent out to you.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us.
Regards

I bet the staff would be happy with this.
the scrambled egg was the most annoying thing to make, and the only thing that actually required constant attention.
Plus cleaning the tools afterwards was always a pain0 -
My mind's eye is seeing Michael Douglas in Falling Down...0
