    Google Chrome and Vista Home

Re the best PC, your question makes no sense unless you define the best or your budget.

Windows XP and Vista and Google Chrome will still work - it is the update service that is stopping, in fact XP updates stopped a year or so ago. This might/will lead to more hacking/virus attacks as hackers find back doors into the software that are not closed by updates. In answer to your question, no you do not need to rush out and buy a new PC but, if you answer grumbler's question you will get some suggestions as to what to buy.

Generally, as it's software problem, you have to upgrade the software only, i.e. either upgrade Windows or use a different browser as suggested in the thread I quoted.

It's a different question whether your hardware can run newer Windows.

Theoretically it can be possible and cheaper to upgrade the hardware if needed: change the processor and add memory.

Windows Vista itself is still supported until April 2017, so you could change to another browser (eg. Firefox) and have another year to replace or upgrade the computer itself.

It's just Google Chrome which will stop getting updates on Vista, but that's a year before the operating itself will stop being updated.

Personally I would switch to another browser for now, and start saving (and also keep an eye out for bargains) to do an upgrade in the next year or so.

Why do people think it's annoying to be informed that their ancient software and OS's are about to be superseded and may not be secure?
We've only had the internet generally available for around twenty years and people are still using 15/8 year old operating systems. XP is 15 years old and Vista 8, well past their sell by date and in the timeline of the internet.....Bronze age......
