As you say Teachfc, it's all about the money.
Sod it if there are starving people out there, supermarkets must make the money...
What really annoys me is they all started this 'nice' fruit and veg charade.
Just like the free bag nonsense. When I was a lad I had to take a bag with me.The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
I thought alot of producers are tied into a supermarket, and in their contract they are not allowed to sell their rejected produce elsewhere, including into independent wholesalers, shops etc??Work to live= not live to work0

Total load of rubbish.
Their maybe certain varieties of certain products sold exclusively to a supermarket, but anything that was not suitable for them would be sold to a lesser demanding customer."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Yep, I supply 3 supermarkets with exactly the same product and from the same supplier.
I have like many others no commitment either way to supply exclusive to one retailer.
I sell as much of the different sizes of product my growers grow so we offer complete marketing service and utilise as much of the crop as possible.
Not real evidence but if you look at my previous posts down the years you will see."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Hopefully I have worked it out and you can see photo below
Was in Morrison's today and the prices were
Cabbage,, ,.............50p
Leeks,.......,..............57p
Peppers 3 pack.......86p
1kg carrots...............47p
Parsnips..500gms......85p
1kg onions......., ..........56p
2kg potatoes......, .........50p
Cucumber.......,........???? Forgot to look, so guessing 50p
Total price................£4.81....
So that is £1.31 more, but I think you get more weight re carrots etc?? Plus they are fresher, as the pictures of the boxes I have seen the leeks have seen better daysWork to live= not live to work0 -
When i saw them talking about this on Tv, didn't think it looked that cheap. Lots of veges are cheap anyway without being bagged-up in surptice boxes.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Morrisons already sell individual bags of wonky veg.Been using the carrots and parsnips for a while now. They look fine to me and if they hadn't put Wonky Veg on the bag I am not sure I would have noticed.0

I personally think it's a publicity stunt, as I am sure I heard on the news their pre Christmas sales were down by at least 6%Work to live= not live to work0
-
Now the initial publicity has died down , and Asda stated they would be rolling out to all stores - Has anyone found any boxes ?
After my purchase in the first week , I havent seen them available again0
