Shame Sony won't honour the warranty though.
Is there no way round it?
Yes, buy one brand new. :p
  • Ok, thanks.
    Here end my first post????

    No other advice?
Which magazine felt it should be transferable since date of manufacture could be determined.
  • Hi Kurtis
The auction is TLH in Manchester and I've bought loads of JL stuff from them.
It's real, since the black marker pen they use isn't very effective.

I love it, but always ring them before you bid online and ask for a ' lot check' and condition.
    Good luck.
PM if you need any advice x

Manufacturers can add any terms they desire into their warranties as they are in addition to your statutory rights. If Sony require those details, then that's what is needed.

You can have some consumer rights even when buying from an auction, but I believe they can exclude these if they choose as long as they display the fact.
  • Hmm, there was nothing to say they were included or not.

Can anyone please tell me what consumer or statutory rights I might have, if any?
    Thanks

I once had a run-in with Sony over a warranty, and I've tended to avoid their products since.

As for the extended warranty, I don't believe in them.

Not TOTALLY relevant ...but re extended warranties always worth having if they are included ie JL or Richer Sounds.
I have 3 sets currently - all 3 had extended 5 year warranties, 2 of which have now run out without being needed, and the third will run out in October.

Yes well, if something is free, then job's a good 'un!
