Elite shopping experts I need your advice please ASAP

I am looking at silk ties that would go nicely with a navy suit and a white (or pink ) shirt.

The tie needs to have a very tiny animal design in it - the sort of design that is so tiny you don't realise what it is unless you are up close.

Pigs have been suggested - possibly too obvious.
Or pheasants - I think these would be really lovely if I could find pheasants.

I've been sent a link with little tiny turtles - John Lewis £25 - no I have not taken leave of my senses - its eldest child's BF birthday and I've just asked her what he really fancies.

So that is this weeks assignment. The birthday is the 7th so I need to get cracking. If I decide to go with the JL option I can collect from Birmingham and I think I have to go there this week for something else if I can figure our what day ...

These ties are very popular at the moment. Is there a budget or is it a splurge purchase? :D These are necessary on some occasions.

For silk ties I love Thomas Pink. Take a Valium before you look though because you're looking at about £70 :o might give you some ideas that you can find similar and cheaper elsewhere though.

I like the somersault elephant one and strangely enough we have just bought it as a collective present for a 50th of someone at work who likes his ties. I chose it :D

I always think David Dimbleby should go there, his ties are terrible :rotfl:

Oh I meant to answer your question from the other day.....no I didn't go for a jazzy colour. I asked for dark brown and was asked if I preferred chocolate brown or brunette brown :o  I bounced that one back and asked her what she thought :o (same thing I thought) Anyway, it's brown

Thank you for this, no I didn't realise it was the current craze - you would think I would know this sort of thing with 5 young adults ...

No, there is no budget as such but Thomas Pink is a bit OTT

Eldest child has a big birthday surprise planned so a tie, however quirky and beautiful will get over looked. So the budget is whatever is a sensible price.

    Mhoc,

try eBay item no. 391390306905 (just put item number into search bar) but maybe the shape is a bit old fashioned...

mhoc I think that this would be perfect but it is very very expensive :eek::eek:

It is, as you say, perfect in every respect - colour and design and even gift boxed but OMG ...

BF comes from a family with a huge income so he never buys anything cheap - £100 work shirts, suits costing maybe £400 ... The sort of gob smacking money that leaves you winded.
To me its life experiences that count more than physical things but each to their own

But I know ties are very important so I can get a significant tie :)
