Getting a mortgage and then becoming mortgage-free!

Pinecone £3 has credited so swept it across to the mortgage with 93p Tilly Tidy to start off Augusts OP's.
The Prolific money hasn't yet cleared into Paypal and I'm not too sure why. On the prolific page it still says the payment is on its way to my paypal. I'm sure it'll clear by the end of the week and really help push up the overpayments for this month
Took nephew out to a local country park this morning after I whipped up a batch of pancakes for us all. He's now headed home with his mum and I think he had a good time, he told me this morning that next time he'd like to come for a few nightsFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
As if by magic at 4.30pm an email popped in that the prolific payment was in Paypal. £19.66 after fees has now been swept across to the mortgage making today's OP a total £23.59.
Not too bad for the first day of the month.
I've also listed a clothes rail and two mirrors on gumtree to see if they will go.
I still have my old engagement ring (!) worn for just under a year which I did list on preloved- not sure whether to stick it on eBay or gumtree. Maybe I'll try gumtree first (preloved had no offers at all) then pop on eBay? I'd be happy to get £175 for it (originally cost £1500 but I know Jewellery has a low resale value!)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Engagement ring is now listed on gumtree! I'll be glad to be rid of it if I'm honest as it does make me a little sad to see it. Fingers crossed for an offer on it!
£1.21 interest received on joint bills account today so swept across to the mortgage. Need to shuffle some cash ready for the TsB regular saver coming out tomorrow.
Back is giving me a lot of pain today (yesterday painkilllers helped reduce it whereas this morning it's not really doing much). Luckily I'm working from home so not having to drive anywhere and can sit on the sofa for a good portion of the day.
Last nights dinner was 'posh dogs' essentially leftover hotdogs from nephews visit with hotdog rolls and loads of toppings from the fridge. Not very grown up but very tasty and pretty cheap meal too (fries from Lidl for 88p for a huge bag, half a tin of spaghetti and the hot dogs & finger rolls)
Picked up a pork fillet for £1.80 on Sunday which has been halved and is the freezer for another day- trying to convince gf to have it tonight but she's not much of a pork fan!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

It can be expensive entertaining children but sounds like he's had lots of fun with you. I'd debated taking mine bowling but ds (5) really isn't a fan and I don't fancy paying for an expensive disaster!
Great financial start to the month, any luck chasing up your gf's pension too?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Good luck selling the ring. I got rid of mine some years after the relationship ended by selling it for gold to a local jeweller (though the cost had only been £200 in the first place). He offered to give back the diamonds because they were basically worthless and he had a bag of them taken out from old engagement rings - that was quite sad!0

Kitten - if it's worth c. £1500 then don't let it go for much less!! Take it to a reputable jeweller/appraiser - while the ring as it is might not be worth much, the stone may be worth quite a bit. Get a current valuation and find somewhere that'll give you a fair price - maybe in the jewellery quarter in Brum or Hatton Garden (I'm not an expert on selling jewellery, but I know that you'd be silly to get rid at such a small price!). If it makes you sad to see it go, offer to split the proceeds with your ex (if that's possible) or at least be happy in the knowledge that's it's helped your current situation as best it can.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi all, I've not worked out multiquotes yet so I will try to respond
Gf hasn't called about her pension yet; we're both working from home tomorrow so will gently nag tomorrow
With the ring I took it to a few Jewellers here but they said similar- minimal resale value and would prob throw the emeralds & diamonds and melt down the white gold. I was quite suprised so will try on gumtree and see where I get with it...ex still works at my workplace but he has pretended I don't exist since I moved out of our flat. He's now married with (his third) a baby now to the lady he started dating the week after I left! It's just a bit awkward really, I'm happy that he's settled down and seems happy though.
I posted the gumtree items on Facebook selling too (thought it couldn't hurt) & a lady wants to buy the IKEA valet stand on Saturday. So that's £12 hopefully towards the mortgage OP this month. Yay!
Nothing else financial to report on other than receiving a cryptic email re my request to increase my pension contributions from my HR team.
Back is still in pain so sat with a hot rice pillow under it and painkillers taken. So no gym again for me! Off to read some diaries and get some ideas for more money spinning/earning!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Off out to besties house tonight as his gf and him are cooking us dinner
He usually comes here and we cook so this will be a nice change, we've been out blackberry picking again this afternoon as the brambles are jut so abundant.
Last year I made contact with a lady via streetlife who had bags of apples to be rid of; I still have my number and wondering if it's cheeky to text her to see if she has some to be rid of in sept? I did make her some apple chutney in return last year...will ponder on it some more.
Kittens have been outside playing today, including out the front of the house and I have paid the deposit on the cat flap install today so all moving in a good direction.
One poll is up to £33.65 & Prolific has £18.55 pending. Hoping I can get payout again on prolific this month to bolster augusts OP. One poll seems to take a bit longer, same as yougov (£37 currently).
Valet stand is ready for the lady to collect tomorrow, have one bid on some broken headphones already but the other items have no bids yet so will see how that goes.
Checked interest on mortgage today and is £13.57 per day which is eye watering high! Need to really drive this value downFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Of course it isn't. If she has some spare she will say yes, if not, she will say no. I have found that the older you get, the more you don't care what people think. I am 51 and wouldn't think twice about contacting her. If she found it cheeky (which I very much doubt) then it is her problem, not yours.0 -
I would drop her a message and ask. She may welcome you taking them off her hands
- the worst she will say is 'no' - go for it!
I admire your focus for over payments! :T it really does all add up- I have not signed up for any surveys, do you have to meet a certain criteria?
Woohoo it is the weekend! :rotfl:0
