I think your decision to have your brother with you is probably a very sensible one in the circumstances - less worrying for you, company and support for him, it works all round. Not used house party but have heard lots who have - we’re having a virtual curry date with friends at the weekend but decided to stick with Skype as we figured house party might struggle with half the world will be using it!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all, awake since 5am and can’t sleep.
Brother is here all safe & sound. Got to his and made him empty his fridge, take all his rubbish out, did his dishes and got rid of all the recycling he was hoarding in the kitchen too. It should hopefully be nice for him when he goes home (whenever that is).
On the way there I needed to stop for the loo and the services were so eerily quiet- super strange.
I finally managed to get girlfriends meds- after an hour of going back and forth between the gps and pharmacy- the gps ‘misfiled’ the prescription the first time! Just so glad she now has some in stock!
Had to go to Tescos as despite getting him some for Christmas my brother didn’t have pyjamas- so got him two sets and some slippers and have insisted he wears them to bed. He was planning to sleep in his jeans!!! He doesn’t have a proper routine so I’m hoping I can get him into a proper one while he’s staying here. Bed at a reasonable hour (not 3am), Wake at a normal hour (9am or so!) and some daily exercise with walking or using our cross trainer. Fingers crossed!
Back to work today. A colleague text me that our annual bonus for 2019 is not going to be paid in April now
& they’ve not said when it will be paid. They’ve cancelled our pay rises (which are performance related too) so it’s looking like the finances will be much lower than expected. Fully understand the rationale but still can’t help feeling a bit bummed out about it. I had my best year ever last year and worked a lot of 60’hour weeks (no overtime!) so was disappointed when told the business were cutting our bonuses, to then be told no pay rise and possibly no bonus is a bit deflating.
(I appreciate I still have a job just a bit glum about it today- I’ll get over it soon enough!)

That's completely understandable when you've worked so hard and I think despite what's going on, you are still perfectly justified in feeling bummed out about something xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Completely agree with Jess, especially as it’s for work done - like you say, I understand the rationale but it still seems pretty rubbish. Glad your brother is there with you safely - sounds like he’s in for a shock with the routine! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

We all went for a walk together after work and he volunteered to wash the pots so all good so far.
ive told him to tell me off if I get too bossy
I can’t remember if I posted about this but I’ve downloaded the Rosetta Stone app and signed up to 3 months Latin American Spanish - found a code for 50% off and I’ve always wanted to learn so how’s the perfect opportunity. I’ve done a few lessons for the past three days and it’s good so farFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Forgot to post the sad news for me yesterday- Download Festival has been cancelled this year
We all knew it was going to happen as soon as Glasto cancelled but am still pretty gutted as it was my ‘holiday’ for this year’s.
I also have tickets to see Green Day with Fall Out Boy & Weezer (seen GD & FOB more times than I can remember but was super excited to see Weezer finally), these tickets are for late June so they will be next to be cancelled I’m sure!
The only bright side will be that if I take a refund rather than the postponed dates I will be £360 up with a lot less spends this June... 👍🏼First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

That’s rubbish about Download and the gig - I bet Weezer would be awesome, only seen FD once, but they were excellent. I think everyone is going to be saving money this summer! (Offset by job losses and furlough wages I’m sure.)
