It’s 6am and I’m struggling to sleep, so thought I’d update on our mortgage overpayments.2020 total so far is £102 made up of lots of small bits including Tilly tidies:
£40 Facebook sales (£3 & £37)
£6 Pinecone surveys
£19.28- 3 lots of prolific surveys payouts
£10.68 & £3.60 Quidco cashback
£8 Streetbees
£5.50 eBay sale
As gf is changing jobs this month and I will be moving to self employed this year with no fixed income we’ve decided to slow the mortgage overpayments until we have a bit more regular income- so we’re using surveys, cashback etc to put towards the mortgage going forwards.
We’ve reworked our plans for the year and are aiming to over pay the mortgage £10 per week as a challengeso £520 for the year...as the year progresses this will get harder but we will keep on looking at ways to maximise our funds

Our interest charged per month is now at £201.17 as of January and I’m itching to get it lower. This conflicts with the need to save save save ready for my career change as I’m torn between smashing the mortgage and saving frantically whilst I have a full time salary coming in.
Ive been looking at other ways that I could earn money when I do the career change (without impacting my investment time and time on my self employed work) so am going to research house & cat sitting options after a friends recommendation or I may just go and look into getting a pub job for evenings during the week maybe?Any other suggestions from you wise lot that I should explore?First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
