Friday 5th Feb - What small DFW things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Welcome to Friday people! :beer:

What are you lovely lot up to today?

  • Morning LaE - thanks for the start :hello:
    Finally Friday :j and only one more week until half term :j
    You know, I find myself wondering if anyone has ever looked at one of these cheap kitchen spam posts.
    So, I might sound bright and breezy but I'm in a right old grump - really tired this morning.
    Here's my to-do list:
    :o check banking and PAD
    :o convince head of department that he wants to buy us all chips for lunch :D
    :o use my free time at work wisely
    :o sort through my 'box of junk' at work
    :o mark a set of books
    :o send a set of books for scrutiny :mad:
    :o finally get one of the kids to hoover
    :o clean the bathroom
    :o find time to relax
    :o find time to make appointments I've been trying to do all week
    :o get ds to football training if he deserves to go (behaviour issues)
    :o aim for nsd
    That'll do for today - have a good day everyone!

    Morning all,
    Not much of anything going on here today, money saving or otherwise. My lergy got worse yesterday & I found myself simply streaming with cold. We did manage to knock together a meal plan last night & did an online grocery order. Mr f had a £5 off next shop voucher & a voucher for a free bottle of Prosecco. Wasn't sure could use both vouchers simultaneously (Sains), but they went through, so a nice free treat.
    I've just been brought breakfast in bed & instructed to stay there & not do any of my usual Friday Big Clean. Am hopeless at doing nothing but I do feel achey & grotty as the cold streams on, so am going to read my book & be sensible. Cat is on sick bed duty, which could be a mixed blessing!
    Stay well the rest of you. Keep your mitts on your money. It can't leap out & spend itself!

  • Morning All :hello: thanks for the start La E. Yeah it's payday :j well done on making it to Friday Cat :)

    Hope you feel better Foxgloves, feeling rough here too. Wish I could stay in bed :(

    My list for today:

    :) move money to various accounts and update sheet
    :) meals from planner apart from lunch which I'll get at a meeting and work will pay :) meeting a little drive away, petrol covered by work and it's good for the soul to go somewhere new.
    :) one annoying thing done already today, will try for one more later, did some research last night for it
    :) bump things on selling pages
    :)check for surveys, FPL, £co
    :)write complaint to mortgage people, yesterday they were tedious and tell me it won't be completed until DH calls too :mad:
    :) got friends coming for dinner tomorrow, need to think what we are going to do

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start La E :)
    Hope Foxgloves and Jonno feel better soon :(

    So, what has today got in store for me?
    More housework :(
    Dog walks x 2
    Trip to the vet's for pup's monthly check / flea treatment / wormer if due (covered as part of the practice's pet club membership)
    HM meals from stores
    Check banks
    Load of washing, dry outside or on the airer, depending on the weather
    Spray fruit trees with organic winter wash stuff if it stays dry
    Pull up some caterpillary cabbage plants (in early February!) and give them to the chickens - hopefully they will eat the caterpillars as well :mad:
    Make a loaf in the bread machine
    Trip to farm suppliers to get chicken food, bedding and compost to repot some big plants / small trees - so not a NSD today
    Get OH to put up some pictures (I love old pictures, paintings mostly but some prints - not expensive ones, the cheapest I have was 20p :D - and have loads of them, everywhere :o)
    Any surveys, FRP check etc

    Better get ready for the trip to the vet's - which takes about 5 minutes on foot :)

    Hope you all have a good day :)

    Morning all!

    Well last night was nearly a disaster! Got in from circuits at 8.30, walked straight into the kitchen to start dinner. Whilst that was cooking I had a shower and washed my hair. Came back down and thought I was doing really well as dinner would be served just before 9 only to find the pesto I was going to use had gone mouldy (half a jar which must have been there longer than I realised!) Just as I was about to throw a paddy I found a tube of soup booster which I got as a freebie so threw that in instead. It wasn't great but it wasn't inedible!

    So today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Check FPL
    * Do washing up
    * Make smoothies for breakfast
    * Put a load of washing on an ecowash
    * Take lunch to work
    * Update work expenses
    * Look at CV as found a job I want to apply for which I could actually be qualified for!
    * Empty purse into sealed pot (although there's not a lot in there!)
    * Send application off for job
    * Sort out laundry
    * Tidy as per Flylady thread

    Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day.

    Just came across this and thought I'd share as yesterday we were talking about things to do with children http://teaching2and3yearolds.com/ice-painting-for-kids/
    * Disclaimer - I don't have children so don't actually know if this is a good idea or not! :rotfl:
