I'll wait for the next letter. That 10k is for hormone treatment from Belgium which will cost like 2k a year. When I get better I'll find a job.

The NHS are disgraceful with hormone problems. Most of you will not have hormone issues but I was born with a very rare condition.
Your physical/mental condition, and what the NHS provides or doesn't provide, don't have anything at all to do with the fact that you have a debt that you should settle before the debt gets even bigger.

    Indeed.

Put it this way, assuming that this was actually a genuine query, it will be far, far cheaper to simply pay the debt which is due to complete the contract - rather than the original debt plus penalties, legal costs, etc., etc.

There is no limit. Interest, late fees and costs until it's paid. If you had an issue with the bill you should have queried it rather than cancelling the DD. You signed up for a minimum term and if you may not want to stay with a provider for 12/18/24 months (whatever the minimum is,) you should go with pay as you go and buy an add on to give you cheap minutes, texts and data.
