Hi,
I've been trying to find out if i'm eligible for any kind of bursary or grant as im funding the course myself !!
I'm about to start uni in Sept to do a post grad diploma part time over 2 years in HR Management....I'm 37 !!
I've 4 children and am currently on a career break from my managerial job...hubby earns £35,000 and i earn zero at present.
Can i claim anything towards the the cost of the course ????????
Please help i cant seem to find the info anywhere !
Forgot to add i'm currently doing the foundation certificate at college in the evenings, also funded by myself.
I have 9 GCSE's but no other academic qualifications.0 -
hi im disabled and will never be able to go back to work outside my home due to the nature of my illness,so i decided to return to college part time to study accounting in order i can eventually work from home, ive been accepted to start in September doing 6 hours a week im currently in receipt of e.s.a, the books total £79.75 and i have to take 6 exams 2 in December, 2 at easter and 2 in June these cost £35.00 each so thats £210, i really want to do the course and better myself, which in turn will hopefully get me off e.s.a and supporting myself. once year 1 is done then comes year 2 and year 3 but i could start basic accounting working for myself after year 1, to some a total of £289.75 doesn't sound a lot but to me it seems totally out of reach! i live in wales and there is a funding called alg but to qualify you need to do 7 hrs a week so im a hour short to qualify, is there anything else out there that can help me????????0

My partner works full time and has started to do a plumbing and energy course which lasts 3 years and a some total cost of £6, 000. He only earns 18k a year and its a bit of struggle the monthly payments.
Could you advise any grants etc he can apply for?0 -
If you want to gain a qualification in Maths or English then you can study FREE with your local Adult Education service. They usually offer courses from entry levels to levels 1 and 2. These are ideal if you've been out of education for a while and need to gain a bit of confidence. They're also an alternative for school leavers who didn't get the qualifications they needed while they were there. It's also a good way to meet people as well as improving your skills.:j0

Hi
Having reached a time in my life where I want to do something worth while and having had personal experience of this particular help, I now feel ready to offer something worthwhile.
I'm interested in training to be a therapist, that would be in physiotherapy.
Does anyone have any advice, where do I go to find out more information, can I do this at home OR evening class & can I get a grant, get some free training, in fact anything to help would be an advantage and I would be most grateful.
Thanks0 -

Do you want to be a registered physiotherapist (requires a degree) or a physiotherapist assistant?
Have a look at the NHS Careers website here:
http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/details/Default.aspx?Id=281
It gives you information about what is required to qualify as a physiotherapist, what funding is available and also details on how to become a physiotherapist assistant.0 -
My son has just finished his BTEC in Sport Development and is now looking to do a 9 week course in RYA Watersport Instructor in a number of different watersports. The cost of the course is approx £3,800. Are there any grants that we can get help with this cost - he does not want to go to uni and is looking to get a job as soon as the 9 weeks is over and the company have said that they will help him with this.
We are on quite a low income, my husband being a vicar??
Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks0 -

I'm not sure what the course is, but addressing severe dyslexia is a long term thing and not something that can be totally dealt with by doing a course.
If your husband could do any part time course at a college or university then he could get tons of help for free. Most will have a dyslexia support unit.
What does your husband hope to teach?
He will need a degree for most teaching circumstances unless you are thinking about teaching in his current subject (chef)
Teaching at the moment is extremely competitive and being dyslexic will not help.
It might help if you re post this as a separate thread on this board because this is an old thread and it might get overlooked. There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
The new DaDa means-testing scales have cut our daughter off from being able to apply. We earn just over the cut-off point (72k household income, 70k government cut-off) and this would mean that we could not afford to send her for 16+ ballet training (costs between 25k and 35k per year). Can you advise if the means-testing will allow for certain tax-deductibles such as pension contributions, bonus sacrifice to pensions etc. These slights differences could mean the difference between us affording for her to go or telling her that she will not be able to realise her dreams.0
