  • Good luck with the job hunting. It's so tricky these days. And soul-destroying when you spend hours on an online application form and don't even.get a 'thanks but no thanks email' (Gloucestershire nhs I'm looking at you!!!)

My mum works for tescos and her staff discounts are great, good luck!

They were Etsy sales and I've had 2 more today, thinking of doing a little Easter event to bring in some sales but also thinking of selling all my stock. I don't enjoy doing it at all, dread every message just carry on because we need those extras.

Had a fantastic week, the ebay items finished yesterday and today some didn't sell but most went for loads more than I thought they would. Sold the camping kitchen for the same as we paid for it, will have to look through what other camping bits we have because I am over camping with the kids.

Just got an email this afternoon and I have an interview to go to at the end of the month for Waitrose. It's a long commute which I think will be the biggest downside but it would be better than nothing. How fast will we pay it all off if I get a job, I'm so nervous and excited.

Tesco is a lot closer but still waiting to hear from them.

I know what you mean. Selling is not for everyone and I am a terrible sales woman and with China making everything it's impossible to make enough profit for it to be worth it.
The right job will come through eventually :) you are getting there merfe. Purely on determination! When this debt is gone you will know it's down to your hard work xxx

I am going to take a break from Ebay now until after the Easter holidays.

Husband says commute will cost too much in petrol but I don't think it will, depends on shifts, I'll be better off with longer shifts so just have to see if I get it and what's available. Our car is really economical 1.6 diesel, it loves the long distances so I don't think it'll be too bad, depends on traffic too I guess which will depend on shift times. Also have to consider the lost tax credits, not a lot but they'd be gone - I see it as a bonus, kids will be grown up soon and we wouldn't get them then and if the government decide to move the goalposts again well I think everyone hates relying on them don't they but sometimes you cant help it. I'll be really glad to see them gone. We are still better off after you take off lunches, commuting, tax credits - not a lot but still. Eventually when we get round to that house buying stage (it's gonna happen, I really am determined) 2 wages, even if one is small, is better than 1. Oh I really really want this job.

I think like you say if there's one earner it's better money wise if you both work. I think it'll help you with your self esteem too.
Go for it. Once you get a job something better might come along. It's always easier getting a job when you've got one x

I agree - its definitely easier getting one if you have one. Its so frustrating, I have always worked and never struggled to find work, took 2 years out and now its impossible. I didn't get the Tesco job, it doesn't give you a reason and online still says they are reviewing the right to work bit. I need to get my passport sorted as its much easier than using your birth certificate. All waiting on Waitrose now, fingers crossed, still 2 week until interview.

Hubby used his ebay money to get bits we need for the chickens, he has the number for some rescue ones and one of the other guys on the allotments has gifted him an electric fence so we can increase their run size which is good.

Not much else happening, more orders on etsy which is good. Council tax bill came and is £120 for the 10 months as I thought it would be so will be nice to have less to pay on that. SWW have agreed to a lower DD amount due to the massive credit we have built up, I think this was partly due to using a laundrette when we first moved here though so will keep an eye on it. My dad has been in touch about us visiting but its just too expensive to get to where he is. It involves either a boat trip or short plane journey, boats cheaper but still too much.

Doubt I will stick to the shopping budget but I made it low and we haven't run the freezer out. Meals aren't the problem its kids snacks so anyone with ideas for cheap but healthy kids snacks would be great. They eat insane amounts of fruit. We have blueberries, apples and strawberries on the allotment so hopefully once these are in season it'll save us a bit. Need a banana tree

Haha yes a banana tree would be nice. I know what you mean it is the snacks. If you bought as many as you ate in one shop it would be horrific! Raisins? Big fruit cake bag not little boxes? Fruit is just so expensive! Most of my shopping is fruit and it leaves no money left for anything else. If I fed los junk it would be cheaper by far.
Sorry about tescos. I really thought you had it. Fingers crossed for waitrose. Xxx

yeah I get the raisin bags, problem is OH will take a pot to work as well, he is bad. Junk is definitely cheaper, its wrong. I've done my Easter Egg shop, just 1 small one each and a pack of little ones for a hunt around the house. They do a free hunt in the village too, just need to remember its on. Next months 5 week month so it will be tough to stick to the regular £350 budget.
