Thanks Working Mum.
I actually find it really hard to spend money now, I question the price of everything. Also when we couldn't spare anything and had to find free ways to entertain ourselves we did alot of walking, picnics, beach days etc and now I find I just prefer those types of days out.
We've used tesco clubcard to have a few proper days out with the kids this year but I really haven't enjoyed them like I used to. We have also had alot of help from family this year, which makes a massive difference when you have cut right back. When we have been to visit they have taken us for days out or paid for a meal out. Just a little thing that makes it feel you aren't going without. For my husband and my birthday we managed to go out for lunch rather than for dinner, which meant we could just pay for 2 since the kids were at school.
It's been a really good year for us, took a little while to get here but I can see it's only going to get better. I've already done calculations on how much we can save once the debts gone, next step will be mortgage free wannabe board.0 -
I agree MERFE, it is absolutely about the quality of life we lead and not just things!!
Things just get in the way I find!! I have de-cluttered lots of superfluous things from my life on my debt free journey. I would say the quality of my life is great, I spend time, money and energy where it matters.
Sounds like you have a good balance and an understanding family. You are very lucky indeed.0 -
