We never have gammon with egg or chips! I normally do gratin potatoes or pasta in sauce if pressed for time. Pineapple is a favourite here!

How about putting a tinned pineapple ring on top, then grated cheese on top.

I normally grill 1 side, then turn it over, put the ring of pineapple and grated cheese on, then grill it till its nice and brown and bubbly.
Serve with salad and/or jacket potato/rice.

I do this but instead of normal cheddar I use the Mexicana chese with the chilli peppers through it, gives a bit of a kick

    Hi
We love Gammon chopped in to little bits and stirred through pasta with a cheese sauce.
We also like it with a curry jacket potato or just some sorry stir fried veg.

I don't usually buy gammon steaks as OH says he doesn't like it. I don't know what prompted me but I bought 2 yesterday. Thanks for all of the alternative suggestions. (I would have gone down the egg & chips route too!)
I'm thinking of all of the recipes that I usually use bacon or ham in now...even chopped up in soup, or using in quiches and sandwiches. I think that I've had a light bulb moment, it's just thick bacon really isn't it?:)
    Thanks OP :)

As above, use it like thick bacon. Another vote for cauliflower cheese on top. I've also had it with macaroni cheese.

PS. If anyone now fancies gammon steak, ASDA do packs of two for (currently) just £5.18/kg. The pack in my freezer were "rolled back" to £4.50/kg, weighs 443g and cost £1.99. They are in their budget SmartPrice range, but are, IMHO, quite OK. They are actually cheaper than those suspiciously circular ones.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
