Why am I a Daily Mail reader ?, now you re just getting silly ! you re jumping to conclusions. I work in the seamy side of life a lot of the time and can see how the police force are now so understaffed and under funded that a lot of what people would consider a fairly important crime, burglary is now relegated many times into just a crime number without even a visit from the Police, unless the burglar has left blood at a the scene. The Police dont have the resources they did have to investigate every crime. This hit and run crime has been IMO quickly dumped and did nt get properly investigated..as the cyclist involved also seems to think.

Are you lumping all burglaries together?
Yes, sheds on an allotment with no line of enquiry is likely to be done over the phone. I doubt you can tell us any force that won't attend a burglary dwelling which tend to be force priorities.

I can name South Wales police who didn't attend a burglary less than a mile from the station, who told my brother in law to take the crime number and claim from his insurance when about £10k worth of stuff was taken. He ended up going down to the police station himself, demanding that they attend. They said they didn't have enough officers spare.

It irritates me when I see cyclists are driving on road instead of using cycle paths besides which clearly exists.

On the other hand, law should be changed to that if registered keeper can't identify driver then keeper will be prosecuted assuming he/she is the driver.

Many urban cycle paths are full of debris and glass. You also lose priority at junctions and often are requested by signs to dismount at junctions. If there was a special road for cars only and you had to stop and switch off your engine at every junction, would you use it?

    Doubt it.

Until local authorities provide a decent space that isn't used to brush debris into, cyclists are entitled to use the road with every other road user.

Also Leicester force made the national headlines with the amusing new trial of only attending houses with even numbers. Odd numbers, forget it, you re on your own..unless there s blood at the premises.

The short pilot was simply to test the effectiveness of sending forensic teams to scenes of burglaries and in the Police's own words had "no noticeable impact on victim satisfaction, and nor did it affect the overall ratio of scenes visited and suspects identified"

The also stated that where SOCO was deployed on 1,172 attempted burglaries very few scenes actually contained any forensic evidence.

Also I notice the pilot mentions "attempted burglaries" rather than actual burglaries.

    You've failed again.

You missed attempted and Scene of Crime officers.

There's nothing to say Police Officers won't attend burglaries.

Running out if officers is different to having a policy not to attend.

Turned out when the desk officer was pushed, that there were 5 officers in the gym. He only told my BiL when he went to the station. Before that he'd been told that unless someone was reported hurt, they wouldn't attend, and to just claim from insurance.

I myself heard the sound of glass breaking down the road from me, and I called 999. When the officers came they asked me why I didn't investigate the noise myself. I told them since I didn't own a stab vest, I felt it prudent to stay out of harm's way. They weren't impressed.

That'll please Dave and Theresa, they like them to be fit so they can work them longer. No point rushing to anything when you have until you're 60 to sort it. :rotfl:

damn what a shitbad. I am surprised at the very leniant fine and points for the 4x4 driver.

Btw. shame on the other motorists. If I witnessed this I would call 999 on my phone and follow the 4x4 vehicle. That's assuming the dumb politicians dont completely ban mobile phone use (even with suitable handsfree)
