  • damn what a shitbad. I am surprised at the very leniant fine and points for the 4x4 driver.

Btw. shame on the other motorists. If I witnessed this I would call 999 on my phone and follow the 4x4 vehicle. That's assuming the dumb politicians dont completely ban mobile phone use (even with suitable handsfree)

No driver was ever fined for this incident as they couldn't be traced. I gues you've not actually read the thread.

Even without handsfree it isn't illegal to use a mobile for emergency 999 calls.

Driver wouldn't disclose who was driving (there were 2 people with permission to drive the hire car). 6 points and £150 fine

Tis the problem with the UK system

    The CPS should have either;
    charged the hirer
    or
    charged both

I guess our Justice system is becoming like Chinas, in china if you run over a pedestrian, you better go back and run over them again and make sure they're dead. If they survive you have to pay for their care for the rest of their life. If you kill them you can say it was an accident and get locked up for 2-3 years.

Had the driver waited they would have been identified, prosecuted and had their license revoked. But since they were not identified the registered keeper gets 6 points and a paltry fine. You get a bigger fine for not paying your tv license.

The China killer drivers stories is probably a myth

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I don't believe it personally, no.

Both however had produced "undeniable" evidence that they were both somewhere else at time & day the accident happened.

err, was this the two that were 'authorised' to be driving the car?
If so, how was the car there at that time?

And why ? Because the cycle lane is poor, so poor it is a worse experience than cycling with the traffic on the road.

One of the bits of the new London cycle superhighways that is completed runs by my office. All the cyclists along here ARE using it - because it is a BETTER experience than cycling with the traffic on the road

We don't have any cycle lanes here, we do however have a lot of cycle paths, these are 1m wide yet they are two way, they are regularly freqented by pedestrians and dogs, but they're mainly used as car parks. Where I used to live had cycle lanes, again these were used as car parks.

Which would have been a waste of time and money to have it thrown out on the first hearing.
