You don't get mugged for your car though.. unless you count carjacking!

Wearing an expensive ring is like carrying around a really expensive phone, or wearing a rolex watch. Lots of people do it but I don't think I'd want to. Putting temptation there for an opportunistic mugger.

Apart from the odd high profile ring wrenched from finger/ Rolex yanked off wrist I've not heard of people being mugged for their jewellery.

I don't live in a high crime area, don't wander the streets alone at night - I think the risk for me would be so low as to be almost non-existent. It's never crossed my mind to be worried about wearing my ring or any other piece of jewellery, but mine is all fully insured in any case.

You've never heard of it means you've never heard of it, not that it does not happen.. :rotfl:

woman mugged for her jewellery while walking her dog on Wimbledon Common in broad daylight

11 women in Leicester mugged for gold jewellery and mobile phones

woman mugged for jewellery and money in Swindon

    to quote just 3

The 2nd link is dated 2011 & relates to Asian women who tend to wear a lot of 24 carat gold very visibly.

The 3rd link is even older (2009) & is about a woman being mugged at 11:30pm at night.

Neither of which appear to be relevant to LilElvis.

LiLElvis is saying she's never heard of anyone being mugged for their jewellery. Therefore the links provided are relevant.

Nothing in those articles makes mention of the value of the jewellery - whether it was a few hundred or multiple thousands of pounds worth.

Nothing seems to indicate that they were targeted specifically for wearing valuable jewellery.

I haven't denied that people aren't mugged for their jewellery and watches, but I do believe that it would be unlikely to happen to me. Therefore I will continue to wear my (valuable) engagement ring without looking over my shoulder every time I set foot out of my front door.

I'm glad I don't have a fancy car that'd also make me nervous. I think you either worry about that sort of thing or you don't. I do get a little nervous about my ring even though it is valued a lot less than £3000, the sentimental value of losing it is greater than the money value to me though

To advertise their shop, of course.

FTR, I did not say they were not legitimate.

If jackiejamesallen knew she was posting on a UK forum, it would have been professional for her to mention that any stone/jewellery bought from them by a UK customer would attract import tax/duty

However spamming is not a legit tactic and a pretty clear sign of a company prepared and willing to play fast and loose.

jackiejamesallen also clearly ignored/neglected the requirements for commercial posters that were agreed to on signup. Quite dishonest and no excuse for it whatsoever!

LilElvis did not post that she'd never heard of it.
This is what she actually posted.

So LilElvis has heard of people being mugged for their jewellery and therefore your (ancient) links are not required to prove to LilElvis that it actually happens as she is already aware that it happens.

You've bolded the wrong part and are picking an argument for the sake of "being right" ..

The conversation you are butting in on actually ended about 24 hours ago.

I'm afraid you really need to learn that just because you don't like someone (or their posts) doesn't mean that person has done something wrong.

Then I apologise if that's what you believe I'm doing.

I wasn't aware that there was a time limit on posting on threads.
And I was hardly 'butting in on a conversation'. I was replying to your post #45 which quoted my post #44.

It's not a case of not 'liking' someone.
If you mean you, I should point out that I don't know you so can hardly not 'like' you.
Just because posters have differing opinions doesn't mean - at least to me - that they don't like each other.
I don't tend to look at who has posted what, I just reply with my opinion - which may or may not agree with yours.

I think you're possibly trying to make this personal and it really isn't personal at all - at least not from my side.
