You mean James Allen the unarguably-proven fraud?
As evidenced by your posting here against all the T&Cs you clearly agreed to?0 -
I read the first post in this thread as just spam? Adolf - really?I'm a greenfield sight for sore eyes, and sore eyes are just needing the light, the shapes, and the shadows of the space we share, before it splits into Thin Air.0

Maybe Adolf works there as well...I'm a greenfield sight for sore eyes, and sore eyes are just needing the light, the shapes, and the shadows of the space we share, before it splits into Thin Air.0 -
Hi jackiejamesallen, my name is Pollycat and I live in the UK.jackiejamesallen wrote: »Hi adolfmills, my name is Jackie and I work at James Allen, an online engagement ring retailer.
Here are a couple of tips:
1) There is no such thing as a ""right amount"" to spend on an engagement ring. You are the only person who can decide whatever that amount may be. You can find an engagement anywhere from a few hundred dollars and up.
2) Buying online is a great idea, as it can save you anywhere from 30-50% off of brick and mortar stores. I would recommend buying from online jewelers who show you real images of each individual diamond.
3) You don't have buy the best diamond to get a beautiful diamond. As long as the diamond is considered ""eye clean"" (and certified by the Gemological Institute of America or GIA), you can get a lesser grade diamond that will look great and save you lots of money.
4) Consider going slightly under the carat size you originally planned. For example, if you wanted to get a 1-carat diamond, think about instead getting a .97-carat diamond. It will look the virtually the same and save you money.
Hope this helps!

Perhaps you could tell us where James Allen is based and explain - for adolf's benefit - how much duty he would pay if he bought from USA.
There are lots of online jewellers based here in the UK.

Some places guarantee not to use 'blood' or conflict diamonds.
I think there's some info on the diamond geezer website about it.
Most jewellers now abide by the Kimberley Process.
My ring has certified conflict free diamonds and the website I bought it from has a lengthy page on the KP certification scheme and it details that all British Jewellers Association members must use conflict free diamonds.0 -
Yes the OP is clearly spam.0

James Allen are perfectly legit. Not sure how their rep ended up posting here. US prices on good quality diamonds are often cheaper, even after import tax and duty.
For specialist advice, including how to get the most out of a small budget, this is my preferred forum: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/rockytalky/
The forum is based in the US, but there are a number of posters based in the UK, Australia, etc.0 -
I wouldn't bother with the different measures of quality. There's only one thing that matters to women and that's size.
The dimond in the ring I bought Mrs thescouselander has excellent all round qualities and cost quite a bit. She now wants a ring with a bigger diamond and couldn't give a stuff about the other aspects.0 -
To advertise their shop, of course. :doh:jumpedtheshark wrote: »James Allen are perfectly legit. Not sure how their rep ended up posting here. US prices on good quality diamonds are often cheaper, even after import tax and duty.

FTR, I did not say they were not legitimate.
If jackiejamesallen knew she was posting on a UK forum, it would have been professional for her to mention that any stone/jewellery bought from them by a UK customer would attract import tax/duty0
