But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all, :wave:
Thanks for the starter Lego.
Bob hope you're on the mend.
Greetings from inside Storm Henry (or whatever today's squall is called). Thank goodness the weather is finally set to calm later.
We're back from the Highlands. Had a lovely time in the log cabin. It was really warm and comfortable and we had the lovely treat of satellite tv (we only get about 9 channels at home). Cooked ourselves a roast dinner in the UFO. Managed to source a half price chicken en route. Then snuggled up and listened to the howling snow storm outside and the sound of the nearby waterfall and one very noisy robin. Took some not-bad photies in between bouts of serious Weather.:eek:
Anyway dear OH is out at work today. I was going to stay in bed but that seems very lazy, I know you guys will be soooo busy today, so I've made a list.
* Need to wash up all the things we took with us up North. With Startdrops, naturally. Done.
* Wash towels and bedding we took up with us. We took end-of-week ones with us in case the cabin wasn't spotless. As it turns out it was pretty clean. Done.
* Put fabric cool bag through washing machine. Looks urghy. In progress.
* Have one of the gazillion naan breads that are replicating in the freezer for lunch. Done. Thanks Dawn.
* Watch Supershoppers recorded over night. Done.
* Look at Finances. Done.
* Repair coat hook I just pulled off wall....for the third time this year. :mad: Work in progress.
* Make omelette with one sad slice of chorizo. Done.
* Plan a second night away later in the week.
* Enjoy the luxury of reading a book.
* Pickle some eggs. Work in progress.
* Play with photos I took while away.
* Rescue trousers with sewing machine. Done.
* Dinner will be wee venison escalopes we bought while away.
* Look out for nacreous clouds at sunset tonight. Good photo opportunity. They look like Mother of Pearl (Link). Terribly bad news for the planet though. (Link)
What have you folks got lined up for today? I'm feeling a bit lonely so I'll be in and out of here all day.

Morning all
Thanks for the start Legomum - I was also up at 5am taking headache tabletsManaged to get back to sleep for an hour eventually though.
Ally - have you tried Nigella's naan bread pizza? Really nice, and you don't have to use the topping she suggests, but adapt to whatever you have in
http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/naan-pizza-9
List for me today:
Dog walks x 2 (though OH is currently doing #1)
Check banks
Got to go back to DD1's (a 40 mile or thereabouts journey) as OH managed to leave something important behind after our stay at the weekend - so that will take up most of the day. Decided we might stop off at one of the towns on the way back for a look around
Any surveys, check FPL etc
Chicken legs out of freezer to cook for dinner (I will roast veggies from the fridge with them)
Make something for the cake tin - chocolate chip and peanut cookies (to use up some peanuts left over from Christmas) and /or a fruit cake - we will see. Not slimming, but saves buying treats, and at least I know what is in them!
OK, better get ready to go out. Hope you all have a good day0 -
Morning all!
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the flylady thread - feel much more organised already!
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Check FPL
* Make smoothies for breakfast
* Sort out carp on top of microwave - dump/file accordingly
* Sort out veggie cupboard - eeek some spuds had taken on a life of their own so had to be dumped! Sorry I know this type of behaviour will offend you guys! But now the cupboard is sorted I can see what's in there (which isn't a lot now!)
* Wash towels and bathmats on eco wash
* Sweep kitchen floor
* Take lunch to work - inc melon donated by my mum!
* Pay £5 reward received from bank off CC
* Update snowball, signature and spreadsheet
* Charge phone in work
* Drink lots of water at work
* Print out letter which I typed at work as now need to handwrite (long story but a letter that I had to get approved so didn't want to handwrite only to have to change it!)
* "Womble" envelope and stamp from work
* Go for a run(?) - really must do this but at the moment I'm at the point where I'm so unfit I'm scared to get started!
* Dinner from stores
* Finish cleaning kitchen as per flylady thread
Think that's everything for now! Hope you all have a great day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)0 -

Go for it! I'm a rubbish runner. I started off running for about a minute and walking for ten and being really proud of that.
Then I progressed to running downhill only!
And sometimes I just walked really fast for twenty minutes, in full running year and I timed how long that route took and then tried to be a second faster the next time.
Then I started running for a minute, walking for a minute and trying to do that over and over again.
Now I can do half an hour without stopping.
Remember, you're doing it for yourself, not to impress anyone. And there's no law saying you have to make progress! All you have to do is enjoy yourself! And, a word of caution, I borrowed one of those How To Run library books and I tried one of their plans to improve my running. I wasn't fit enough to manage their easiest plan and this made me feel a failure. I made my own plan and that was much better. (Funnily I can climb mountains in 'record' time and without breaking myself but as soon as I run I turn into a snail....)
