Thanks for the start Lego Mum, hope you managed some sleep and your shoulder isn't too bad.
Didn't managed to get in to post last night, too late, but did read. Lovely to see the thread so busy. My list for today:
Check banking, update sheet :T
Check for surveys, £co :T
Do one thing off February list :T - made a call, saved £85
Man coming to give us quote for some replacement windows, won't be able to get them all done together and he knows that but we can just work out which ones to do in order and how much we need to save for :T
Meals from stores, v cheap aubergine and lentil curry tonight:T
Washing shuffle from airer to rads (although think they'll only be on for half an hour to take the chill off) :T
Run for free exercisefelt rubbish, struggling to keep body temp constant, decided against.
DH spend £18 on groceries for week yesterday, based on meal plan and what we have in let's see how far we get with that :T
Girls getting haircuts tonight, been 6 months since eldest and a year for youngest so not extravagant and the lovely lady comes to us:T £14 well spent
Think that's about all, have a good day everyone,
Hope you're doing ok Bob- thinking of you.
Done lots, am very happy (apart from feeling pants) also started another spreadsheet to track incidental spends to see where the 'spare' money really goes.
Ziggy sending you big hugs, have been thinking of you lots today, do take care of yourself in amongst it all, try and limit unnecessary contact with YB and focus time with DM and Your DM and your own family.0 -
Evening all from my one truly comfortable position of the bathtub! This will NOT be very MSE if I accidentally drop DD's kindle in to it!:o
This is me today:
- All meals from stores, including lunch!
- Declined invitation to accompany colleague into town at lunch = no needless spending!
- Parked in free car park for after work appointment in town. Although appointment was for my three-weekly eyelash extensions so not 100% MSE
- Paid for the above via online banking rather than drawing out cash, costs £25 so would end up with £5 cash floating around
- DD took £1 from her money box for a hot chocolate at school rather than taking it from my purse. She never seems to spend her own money so about time she learned!
- Using more odd toiletries from stores rather than replacing the 'usuals' - i get so many as presents but theyre all a bit unusual so I just need to suck it up and use them
I am slowly getting back into this, althouhh lifestyle at the moment doesnt entirely permit i am making small changes

Lovely to 'see' you Josie :hello:0

Good Morning All
Legomum - Thanks for starting us off today, hope you managed to get some rest and that you feel better soon
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Life feeling a little overwhelming at minute due to family issues so trying hard to be kind to myself (eldest brother has lung cancer and understandably is very ill and trying to deal with this without talking to us or bothering us, youngest brother is so blunt, critical and says he's not particularly bothered, mum is stressed by all this and worrying over eldest (as I can fully appreciate) but it's also affecting her health and well-being, she herself is in hospital today to have a lump removed and investigated - = how I feel). Today I will

Well today didn't achieve all that I needed/wanted to but nothing that desperate that it's going to make a difference
Mum's operation didn't happen - some kind of mix-up in the clinic, everyone that arrived today thought they were having their op but no only pre-ops, so we're back to waiting for a date in the next 2/3 weeks, may take more than one op and he's asked for her cancer records. Mum also needs to see her GP as her blood pressure is a lot higher than they would like
There's an old saying "A sons a son till he gets him a wife, a daughters a daughter for all her life" and it has always applied in our family - both my brothers had children before me so things were left to me because I was single or didn't have any commitments (apart from a husband and step-children) and then it became well, our children are growing up now and we have our lives back so its easier for you now as M wants to spend time with his nan. Since my dad died almost 15 years ago it's just been me and DH muddling through and dealing with mum, moving her from a 3 bed house into a flat (5 mins walk from my house) so everything has become so much easier for me to deal with as I'm closer, I'm not working - you name and its all so easy for me. Eldest brother visits mum very occasionally (4/5 times in 10 years), youngest brother visits mum when its convenient for him (when he has to collect his daughter from work in our town on a Sunday teatime) - never every week, sometimes he brings his kids too (22 and 17), they have tea, watch what they want on mums tv, charge their gadgets at mums (never ask) and then leave. Youngest brother is divorced but has been seeing the same woman for the last 6/7 years and his life now revolves around work, his partner, her parents and holidays abroad - him and partner are now looking to buy a house near her parents, so we'll see even less of him then - so I guess I just have to suck it up and deal with it, mum has also decided she doesn't want to go for respite this year, so I just feel its non-stop
Thanks for all your support and for listening to me offload, apart from DH I don't have anyone else.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75
