Edinburgh on Wednesday

Depends how you read it (or what was intended): is it
(Overseas Holidays) and (Travel Planning)
or
Overseas (Holidays and Travel Planning)?
I tend to lean to the latter given that there is already a board for UK holidays, but it's certainly open to interpretation.
The lack of punctuation after 'Overseas' would suggest it's the former.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
There are eight other Edinburghs that do fall under the remit of this forum - but the UK Holidays or even the Scottish forum with its Stickies for Edinburgh will see you sorted better here.
Gales don't mean a great deal in Scotland - We are pretty used to them after all. My work shirts got a good blow-through yesterday. Just took them-in before the worst of it hit - about when the seagulls started flying backwards!

do you mean you won't bother with insurance, or just won't bother going to Edinburgh?0 -
A good waterproof & a map (or app) of nice pubs should see you safe! Just don't freeclimb Arthur's Seat or admire the waves at Leith from too close.
There are plenty of safe havens from the weather along Princes street, and in a straight call between risking pneumonia & liver damage, I'd take investigating single malts in a leisurely manner every time.0 -
Hi,
there used to be a wee Mexican place along Rose St, if you like it hot.0 -

Still a wee bit windy up here but nothing a pilot can't manage (they were still flying in at 3pm on Monday when the Forth Bridge closed to all vehicles) and thought one was going to land in the back garden it was so low!
Is to be a bit chilly though so wear a warm jacket and gloves / scarf. Don't buy one of the tartan tat ones from the miriad of tartand shops as they are useless at keeping your neck warm and manufactured in China. If you want a decent tartan scarf, expect to pay over £30 for it.
Take the tram from the airport if you want the centre. It's much nicer than the airport bus and goes past Murrayfield stadium (home of our normally useless Scottish rugby team).
Avoid Waverley market at the train station as hardly anything in there these days.
High street for history - castle at top, Holyrood Palace (where her maj stays when she's in Edinburgh). Also scottish paliament building and dynamic earth view views over to Arthur Seat.
If you get the time, take a bus or train over to Fife and you'll see the new bridge being built as well as the rail bridge - though you might see them all from the plane depending on the direction of the approach.
Have fun.0 -

Hi,
there's a big rugby match in Edinburgh, Murrayfield, on Saturday, if you will still be there, so city will be invaded by [STRIKE]hoards[/STRIKE] hordes of English supporters, hope they don't spoil your fun, the natives are friendly though, enjoy. :j0
