Right, so I got my Kuhn Rikon this week and used it today for the first time. It's almost silent! Just one question - can I really wash all of the lid?
Never been able to do that with my Prestige or Tower. Didn't want to stick it in the washing bowl till I heard what you guys do. Just gave it a quick wipe over before using it today - carrot and butternut squash soup, yum...

I take out the gasket thingy and wash it, then wipe over the lid with a damp cloth. I`ve never needed to fully immerse as it doesn`t get that dirty tbh.0

I'm thinking of purchasing my first ever pressure cooker. But what size is a good size for a family of 4, bearing in mind that we do have friends over so at least once a month we cook for 10?Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0

Chuzle - I'd recommend you buy the biggest size available, even if it's not used to capacity on every occasion. You may find it useful for double-batch cooking and there's nothing more frustrating than spending a reasonable sum of money on something and then finding that it's not always fit for purpose.0

Seraphina - referring back to your post No 186, for many years Prestige pressure cookers were designed for 15, 10, & 5 lbs pressure. The same also applied to Tower pressure cookers and we have used both of these makes for many years, Prestige for more than 50 years.
In recent years Prestige have started to use the lower 12 lbs pressure, I cannot comment on Kuhn Rikon however.
We also have a Swan 5 litre pressure cooker, as yet unused, and it is designed for 11.5 lbs pressure.0 -

Good Luck - Imine.
I have a Prestige Hi-dome that I treated myself to and a Megafesa that my son found in a derelict property that he needed to visit in his job - asked if he could take it as it was the only thing left in there. Needless to say, he found the Megafesa AFTER I'd bought the Prestige lol.
oops cross-posted with Pink.
